“Does the body come with the costume?”
We’ve all seen the question (or even asked it 🙋🏾‍♀️) in the comment section #nojudgement

Costume sales for @ultracarnival open in a few hours and after days of inspecting, ZOOMING in and debating in the DMs I got to thinking about how and why people are drawn to different costumes.

We’ve all seen costumes that we’d NEVER wear and others that you just know are THE ONE. But how?

Here are a few things I consider:
The fit.
The details.
The vibe.

Plus a few more key tips. Swipe to make sure you choose one that works for YOU.

THE FIT.

How comfortable do you want to be?
Do you want the 🍉 lift of a wire bra?
Is the cut of the bottom going to elongate your figure or enhance your waist?
Do you want your belly showing at all?

The Details
Are you committed to the band’s given theme, or do you just want to look like you?
Is there a particular designer who’s pieces ALWAYS fit you just right?
What are your colours? Or what colour have you never worn before?

The Vibe.
How do you want to feel on parade day?
Regal, with a crown to match?
Sexy AF?
Like the prettiest princess 👸🏾 on the road?
Alt, edgy and a whole vibe?

➡️

The cut
Everyone’s anatomy is different! Know your body and choose accordingly. Underboob styles make me anxious (I don’t fancy a nip slip!); some people hate high cuts 👋🏾🐱🫢; the more details there are in an area the more the eye is drawn there… so maybe don’t go for straps across the stomach if you don’t want people to look.

Costumes are vpeople love sleeves.
