Fun thing about Mondays with @sambanksmusic @willjonesofficial @steel_jones @doomfalcon at @thelocalnash is we try stuff. We go for it to push each other musically and I'm a better musician and human as a result of it. The other fun part is when we have sit ins or subs that come and keep the party rolling. @elijahboonemusic @tylerfeehery and @fiddlestix76 @carlylegriffinmusic @gabe_tone_on joined us on Monday. Here's a lil clip of us pulling Hotwire by @brentmason.official out of our asses with Elijah, It's not perfect but it was a blast. Yes that's the @sabiancymbals 22" sonic surge #musicfun #goodtimes #goforit #shedoesntloveme

This weekend was life changing 🎶

I almost didn’t post anything about it. I haven’t really known how to post about anything lately unless it has something to do with Lauryn. Somehow, sharing anything else has felt wrong.

But then this weekend happened.

We went to St. Augustine for the Songwriters Festival and my gosh… the people we met. Johnny Clawson, Brian Davis, Marla Cannon-Goodman, Justin Wilson, Jeffrey Steele, Lance Miller, Sam Banks and so many more.

Getting to meet the people behind so many of our favorite country songs and the Nashville music we love was incredible. And along the way, we made some new friends too. 🤍

But the most unexpected part was the connections through grief. The very first night, I met a woman my age who had just lost her son, who lives only 30 minutes from us. And then we met two songwriters who have lost their children too. It’s not like I go around talking about what happened to Lauryn to complete strangers but God somehow opened the doors.

Three different people. Three different stories.

I booked this weekend back in April, before everything happened. Our birthdays and first date anniversary are within the same two weeks so we usually try and do something to celebrate. There were so many moments I wasn’t sure we would even go. I’m so glad we did.

We laughed (a lot). We cried (a lot). We listened to incredible music and met people we’ll never forget. And for a few days, I felt connected to the world again.

Maybe it was exactly where God needed us to be. ❤️

There can still be beautiful moments inside a life that has been completely changed.

Shannon and Mike, thank you for introducing us to a whole new world we didn’t know we needed 🎶💓 It was so nice growing closer as friends this weekend.
