Do you dread the winter months and worry about how seasonal affective disorder may impact you?

Researcher, author and health psychologist @karileibowitzphd is on the pod this week talking all things wintertime mindset and the science behind SAD. It may surprise you that some of the coldest and darkest locations actually **don’t** see an uptick in rates of SAD like we may expect. So why is that??

We discuss how Kari’s world travels and research inspired her to write the book “How To Winter” … along with some concrete action steps we can all take to adjust our wintertime mindset, habits and lifestyles to be happier during the cold and dark months.

The gamble these managers and media companies are taking is:

They’re betting you’d rather be able to flip it on and stream it 24/7 even if the quality is lower. They’re hoping you don’t care that the anchor has to look down to punch up audio and graphics. So, do you?

Is constant streaming ACTUALLY going to save local news viewership though? Or just lower the quality in a media landscape where viewer trust is already being eroded?

We discuss on this week’s episode of @nobodypitchedthispod

If you’re in the TV world, you’ve seen it. Caroline Collins, a well-known Texas news anchor recently showed her online audience the behind the scenes as she directed, anchored and produced a live newscast as a true one-woman show.

That launch of the “anchor does it all” model at this particular station also comes at a time when another American media company has launched anchorLESS newscasts — fully reporter driven.

Two new trends. Two new ways that newsrooms are trying to adapt, evolve and stay relevant into a rapidly changing media landscape with viewership numbers continuously dwindling.

So how do anchor-directed/anchorless newscasts actually impact the quality, pacing and entire *vibe* of a show? What does it to do audience trust, audience attention and will it actually work??

@refreshmintz_ take here… and much more in this week’s episode of Nobody Pitched This. Available wherever you get your podcasts (check stories for a direct link!)

A summer saturday morning at home with Sam, Logan, & Teddy before baby #2 joins them. I had the honor of taking Sam’s pregnancy announcement photos when Teddy was still in her belly & it was so special to see him so grown up.

On hobbying, creative urges, projects we’re excited about… and taking the damn PRESSURE off 🧶 🎾 🎨

In this week’s episode, we talk about the difference between hobbying, “hobby-maxing” (as the kids are calling it) and when it’s just becoming a whole other job. The central question: At what point does that creative thing you love stop bringing you joy and start becoming another source of pressure?

We explore that — and all our current hobbies — in this week’s episode. Available now wherever you get your podcasts!

If you’ve ever wondered what it takes to go independent as a journalist, this episode of Nobody Pitched This (out today!) is for you.

We dive deep with @grant__hermes of the Make it Make Sense podcast (follow @mimsnewspod!) about when he knew it was time to exit the traditional newsroom, the growing pains and challenges of beginning his podcast + Substack as an independent journalist and what he means when he says he measures everything against the “harm principle” in his reporting.

This episode is a two-parter. Part 1 is out now wherever you get your podcasts! Comment “PODCAST” and we’ll send you the direct link.
