Dear soccer,

Thank you for everything you have given me in these last 18 years of my life. The memories, brothers, lessons, injuries, and laughs. You gave me the best and worst days of my life, but I wouldn’t trade them for the world. No matter if my jersey was blue, red, black, white, yellow, or green, you accepted me as a player. You didn’t care if I wore 30, 14, 20, 28, 40, or even 10 on my back, you always allowed me to play with freedom and joy. Sure you hurt me sometimes, but no relationship is perfect. You used those moments to reveal how I could see you from a new perspective. Thank you for giving me amazing coaches to help me realize how much I love you, Danny price, Minem Vilece, Kevin Taylor, Victor Plassé, Joe Johnson, Josh Allison, and even Andy Lane. These men have taught me how to carry myself on and off the field and what it means to be a student of the game. Without them I am not the man I am today. Without them I am merely the little boy who saw his older brother playing and thought “I could do that”. So thank you. For everything. I will never stop loving you as long as I am capable of loving.
