BBP Invaded Pershing Field and it won't be the last‼️

Thank you all for coming by. The weather was challenging but we made it work. Thank God everyone who came made it safe and had a good time.

All the love and support has me speechless. Here I am thinking I'm just a guy with a camera, never realizing how much love was standing behind me all along. Sometimes we're so focused on capturing the moment that we forget we're part of one ourselves.

To everyone who has supported, encouraged, and believed in me... 🙂‍↕️thank you. I see it now, and I don't take it for granted.

What an unforgettable day‼️

Despite the extremely heavy and wicked rain, so many of you still came out to support the first-ever Rhythm on Wheels: The Culture of Roller Skating event. Your presence, enthusiasm and love for roller skating meant more than words can express. Seeing families, longtime skaters, first-time skaters, and members of the community come together reminded me exactly why I wanted to create this event.

A very special thank you to the Miller Branch Library and the Jersey City Free Public Library for believing in my vision and giving me the opportunity to bring this program to life. As someone who works for the library, it was truly an honor to organize and coordinate our very first roller skating event and share the rich history and culture of skating with the community.

Thank you to Pershing Field Charlie Heger Rink for providing such an incredible venue to host this event. It was the perfect place to celebrate the history, music, movement, and community that make roller skating so special.

A huge thank you to Kurby Brown, @imagesbykurby for sharing his knowledge and history of the NJ/NY skate culture, to Brother Ayoni, @dj_hoody_007 for providing an amazing soundtrack, and to everyone who volunteered, participated, took photos, skated, and helped make the day a success.

This event showed that even heavy rain can't stop a community that's passionate about roller skating. Seriously!!! You guys really drove through DEEP FLOODS to be there.

This was only the beginning. Here's to many more opportunities to preserve our history, build our community, and keep the culture rolling.

We are saddened to share that our beloved community member Robbin Ziering passed away on May 4, 2026 in New York City at the age of 72.

We remember Robbin for the joy she found in dance skating, the care she gave to countless children over her 40 years as a pediatric nurse, and the constant support and love she showed her friends and skate family. Robbin was a fixture in the Central Park Skate Circle. One could often find her enthusiastically participating in line dancing routines, socializing with friends, and singing along to her favorite songs.

She met the love of her life, CPDSA Co-Founder Lezly Ziering, in Central Park, where he taught her how to skate. On June 15, 1997 they celebrated their love with a wedding on wheels at The Roxy. Everyone in the wedding party, including the rabbi, wore skates. Even after Lezly’s passing in 2015, Robbin kept his legacy alive through her continued presence in the Skate Circle and the way she shared their love story.

Robbin was deeply passionate about her work – as a school nurse with the DOE and in the pediatric ICU – as well as her beloved fur babies and her skate community.

We will celebrate her life in the Central Park Skate Circle on Memorial Day, Monday May 25, 2026 starting at 4PM.

May her memory be a blessing 💜
