Behind the scenes of The Future is in the Lobby by SOW Alumni Chykeem Nichols, @chykeemnichols

The lobby is not a metaphor for waiting. It is a real place. The liminal, humbling space between readiness and access, where talented young New Yorkers sit until someone decides they're worth the call.

To every SOW Member and Alumni who showed up and gave their time and their faces to this project: THANK YOU!! And to Caroline Xia, @carolinexia_ and her team, (@bedfullofdirt & @pge.arn) for bringing this vision of "the lobby" to life with so much intention.

Thanks for capturing this special day, @chykeemnichols. Especially on very little notice. Haha

It's here. The Future is in the Lobby: Who Gets to Work in NYC's Creative Industry is live. Link in bio.

If you're currently in the throes of trying to pursue or sustain a creative career in NYC, or have spent time in the lobby, talented and ready but still waiting — this report is for you.

The Future is in the Lobby captures what it's costing NYC's young creatives of color emotionally and financially, and documents 8 years of impact and evidence about what becomes possible when you invest deeply in the young creatives that call this city home.

Please read it, share it and spread the word!

The report was written about NYC's young creatives of color. And it was made by them too. Their stories, their talents, and their trust made all of this possible.
