This week we’re revisiting “This Time We’re Really Through” from New Orleans’ star Lydia Marcelle. The song, a plaintive ode to saying “goodbye,” was written by Jane McNealy and arranged by the legendary Harold Battiste, Jr. Marcelle delivers the upbeat ballad in a bittersweet style that brings its story of heartbreak to life. Unearthed from McNealy’s archive in 2023, this previously unreleased track was remastered by Sameer Sengupta. Head over to Lo-Flo’s YouTube channel where you can listen to the song and enjoy artist Julie Flogeac’s vintage sixties-style music video and a whole lot more: www.youtube.com/watch?v=dOJa9wGPJF4&list=RDdOJa9wGPJF4&start @janefargo @julie.flogeac @sameersenguptasound #loflorecords #janemcnealy #haroldbattiste #lydiaMarcelle #60sPop

South End's first CD release was the "Fanatical" mini album (VOLTCD74) on Second Nature/Volition in 1993. The group's line up at the time was Stuart McCarthy (programming, guitars), Steve Younan (vocals, keyboards), Melinda Page (vocals, keyboards) and Sameer Sen-Gupta (programming, machines). "Fanatical" is a six track journey through trance and techno with a slightly pop edge, and I remember my excitement at hearing it for the first time. My deep appreciation for South End's musicality and production remains 🙌 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #volt2023 #southend #volition #volitionrecords #trance

We invite you to PHASE SHIFT, an evening of live generative environments. A story told in phases. Drop in any time. Stay as long as you like. Built in TouchDesigner. The community is warmly invited. More info and tickets at link in bio > ABOUT Life moves in phases. An experimental narrative told through human-computer interaction. Computer vision, generative and performed audio visual. Human designed and controlled. Synchronized techno, dub and ambisonics. An experiment in live generative environments, and an early look at a longer-term toolset Jarrett from Derivative has been building for real-time AV performance. UNDER THE HOOD, THE PIPELINE TouchDesigner at the core, but this project has really been about stress-testing POPs — TouchDesigner’s new Point Operator family — alongside ML tooling we’ve been pushing past the experimental stage. Real-time generative visuals driven by computer vision, with human interaction in the loop throughout. Nothing is pre-rendered. The system was designed to be performed and steered live. AUDIO Running on a Dante network: a quad-channel main room and a new experimental ambisonics room for fully spatialized listening. Synchronized electronic music locked to TouchDesigner via some novel sync techniques we’ve been developing. Why “phases”?  The piece is loosely structured as a narrative arc — life in stages — but each stage is a different configuration of the ML, visual, and audio systems. The technical state of the rig is the storytelling. This is a tuning night and a technical exercise as much as a show. Things will be weird in interesting ways. Come see what works, have a drink, and meet others from the community. You catch a breather, a moment of respite, before stomping breakbeats and gnarly riffs kick in and the mix takes off once more. This is how most will remember Sprocket’s Kickflip Manual: a track conceived by Phil Smart and Sameer Sengupta (aka Pocket), with the help of pro skater Chad Ford, in early-2000s Sydney. Read the full piece by Henry Johnstone on the 77 blog 🔗 via link in bio 👉 Catch Phil Smart all night long this Saturday 04 April at Club 77 from 10pm — 5am. Early bird tickets via RA, free entry before midnight via guest list.

Way too difficult to put a whole year in a reel….but this is my attempt! 2025 was a year of listening. Shedding old skins, returning to truth, navigating all the bumps on the inside & the outside. Underneath ALL of it I’m so grateful for all the incredible souls I’ve met and shared time with 🙏🏼 To all those I practised with and who expanded alongside me this year. Your presence is the work… The dj’ing, music production, writing, teaching, presenting, interviewing, retreating, mentoring, curating, creating, conversing…..Impossible to tag, name everyone but here are a few highlights. Wishing you all a very happy new year ✨🌟💫 looking forward to seeing you in the next cycle ❤️ and Happy Birthday to my biggest teacher - my beautiful, brilliant and delightful Mom! 🎉🎊🎂
