We are so blessed to be able to partner with the ASL Club to host this fantastic guest speaker, Holly Eaise. She has an amazing story to share and perspective to give on growing up as a CODA and having ASL as her native language. Please join us for this event at 11:10am in the CHS Conference room. We will have donuts as well! 🍩🙌🏼 #asl #coda #deafawarenessmonth #slp #samford @samfordsign

This reel shows how ASL Club made the banner for Samford Family Weekend @samfordu ! I am so glad I was a part of the process! We collaborated with McWane Science Center, so that is where all the designs are inspired!

We have the signs for science, dinosaur, sting ray, and fish on the banner!

Sign of the Day: Pumpkin

Tonight was the monthly Starbucks Deaf Chat and one of my favorite nights of the month! It is always so encouraging to me how many people show up wanting to learn and meet people in the community! So if you are thinking about coming and experiencing something new, please join! This video is led by Joe, the amazing sign language teacher at Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind Birmingham! It is a great resource to take ASL classes!

National Deaf Awareness Month a time to recognize the culture, language, and achievements of the Deaf community-and to reaffirm our commitment as future speech, language, and hearing professionals to accessibility and inclusion in communication sciences and disorders.

As both clubs and individuals, we can honor this month by learning from Deaf perspectives and advocating for equitable access in all communication modes!

This past semester, I was on leadership in the Samford ASL Club! It was so fun educating, leading, and practicing sign language throughout the semester! Made many news friendships, and I can't wait to meet new club members this semester! Can't wait to see what the future holds for this club! 🤟

The photos are a few highlights from the past semester! 🙌
