WOW! Mi Casa SUKKAH-sa Fall Carnival was one for the books!🔥

Shoutout to the entire Philly Jewish community for coming out and bringing the energy to The Chevra’s NEW Beer Garden!

From the carnival festivities to the sukkah celebrations, the vibes were unmatched, and we couldn’t have asked for a better crew to revel with!

Props to The Chevra’s Rock House Band, “The Mystic Mayhem” — @ethanfdrums @tuckerhillmusic and @samgutmankeys for rocking the house and keeping the energy going all night long!

Heartfelt gratitude to our amazing event hosts, @carolineggeorge @itsjustjustariel & @lizziegeorge for helping plan such an incredible festival, hosting the event and making everyone feel right at home!

Thank you to everyone who helped bring the new beer garden to life!

Pictures will be available to download on The Chevra’s Facebook Page soon!

Already counting down until we’re all together again at the Festival of Light: Epic Hanukkah Bash!

Until next time… L’Chaim! 🥂

⚔️DUNGEON CRAWL⚔️ Huge thanks to @friendshipwizard for having me out to my first Dungeon Crawl along with @samgutmankeys & @maxswanmusic ... After months of recovering my brain and body from my accident, it was such a joy to be back on stage and to be able to create 2 sets of 100% improvised music. It really is a blessing to be alive and I am so grateful to be able to create on stage with such an incredible band of musicians. I will never take moments like this for granted! More to come…stay tuned! 🥁🎶

Dungeon Crawl XXXI Observations -

One of my favorite parts about Dungeon Crawl - beyond how it’s an incredible exposition of musicians - with a special focus on Philly talent that help make the live electric instrumentation scene here so rich and unique - is the thematic segments throughout the evening that bubble through the froth of improvisational exposition.

Here is one of the clearest examples of how a song or a concept of a song is birthed spontaneously- @maxswanmusic comes up with a classical prog jazz theme on the fly and then repeats it building embellishments each time around.
So while there are no set lists - there are segments of music that develop throughout each set of a Dungeon Crawl. I just happened to be lucky enough that my phone was pocket recording during this exploration.

If I were to name this song - or segment - I’d call it “Pocket Birth” - for the solipsistic reason but also that the song arises out of the pocket provided by @ethanfdrums @samgutmankeys @friendshipwizard and it’s also a “Pocket Song” being something that would fit into a small space, unexpected and brief in time. This is just one “Pocket Song” of many moments throughout this night and each Dungeon Crawl to boot.

Even the “lulls” or adjustments when the players are looking to which musician to take the next “birth” into a musical theme are few and far between. The transitional moments are also infinity better than the crap I used to improvise at Tuesday nights open comedy mic nights at L’Etage. Plus the delay of the upload into the matrix of the next theme is part of the anticipation and fun. I don’t know if there’s a cheat code or what the hells going on - it’s dark magic for sure - but the wholesome kind. Let the healing frequencies begin.
