“And just like that, 18 years went by and 12 grades were completed!
I am so proud of my intelligent, beautiful, feisty, fashionable, and prayerful daughter. She’s full of thoughtful opinions about the world, human behavior, and Black parenting (inside joke).
I’m excited for her next chapter, and mine… because what do you mean I’m a parent to an adult now?”

I may or may not be ok when we drop her off to college... Mommas of adults send advice..😳😁

Two years ago, The Last Night I Cried… opened as an exhibition about heartbreak, emotion, and real life, blending art, fashion, and lived experience in one space.

What stayed with people most was how real it felt. The honesty of it. The way it showed both the pain and the beauty in heartbreak.

Even now, that reflection continues. Not just in memory, but in what people carry forward.

Through the journal. Through the blanket. Through the quiet moments of processing life.

Because LNIC was never just something to see, it was something to feel and take with you.

It’s been two years of LNIC, and now you are able to shop this limited collection. 🌟

You have had the ideal for years but never acted on it. Then you see your idea on social media getting likes and views and even being monetized.

You wanted to start the business but never started.
You started writing the script but quit halfway.
You wanted to create impact but decided you were too old now.

You may have gotten distracted, derailed or depressed. But the idea is still in your heart. There’s unfinished business deep in your soul. What now?

Don’t let your vision die. Bring it to life.

Join me and a community of men who have resources, experience, ideas, techniques, skills and results. We are creating a safe space to ask questions and get help.
Save the date: Saturday June 13 at 8:00 AM at @hopeshousecm church in Granada Hills.

Let’s do this!

Final excursion for the Summer in LA series

Doing this series made me realize… I really be doing the most … but His grace is truly sufficient, because where do I find the time? Grateful though… to experience life and joy abundantly

This time we took a cruise on @carnival out of the Long Beach Port. It was a 5-day trip we booked last minute and somehow scored a great deal .
Long Beach is about 40 minutes from us, so we drove, parked at the port, and took off!

We sailed to Mexico, went snorkeling, explored, ate ice cream about 5–7 times a day (no exaggeration), and just relaxed. It was the girls’ first cruise, and all they kept talking about was their cruise friends, which I had no idea was a thing, but apparently it’s a big deal in kid cruise land 😂
The ship had so many activities for teens, and we soaked up every bit of sunshine and family time.

10 out of 10 recommend 🚢

Summer in LA: The Sailboat Lesson

This was the day I thought I knew what a sailboat was… but nope 🙃 Learned real quick lol.
I booked a surprise lesson for my husband in Marina Del Rey for our anniversary 💕. He’s not a water person, so we were BOTH in for a ride.

It was rocky . Our instructor was awesome (shoutout to him ), but the moment he tried to take us into the ocean we said, “nahhh… turn this boat back around.” We are Marina Sailing people ONLY 😂.
I did get a chance to “drive” for about 2.5 seconds (that’s all I could handle). Honestly though, learning about sailing was super interesting ...our instructor has been sailing since age 7 and even lived on a boat!

Then he told us the prices for boats + docking in LA… and I low-key considered moving onto one. Because y’all already know LA housing prices are crazy 🤯.
10/10 recommend if you want the experience → just get the bigger boat if you’re afraid of water!

Would you try Sailing?

About last weekend:
We had our 2nd annual REAL, RAW, RELATABLE Mens Summit.

Also last weekend: We had no keynote speaker.

No keynote. No problem!

Last year we had an incredibly knowledgeable, successful and experienced charismatic keynote speaker. He TOTALLY delivered and was worth way more than his asking price. We were honored to have him. However based on attendee feedback we realized men wanted more than information and inspiration.

They wanted connection.

So we elected not to plan around one incredible speaker and his experience. We decided to plan around several men and their respective stories in a panel discussion format. All these men were already in the house. And because these were the “guys next door” they were not untouchable. The pleasant surprise was the depth, dimension and dynamics of their stories. Those stories fueled rich and important conversations and connection. They collectively and overwhelmingly checked all the boxes.

Information? ✅
Inspiration? ✅
Education? ✅
Connection? ✅

The resources you need for success may very well already be in the house! Thank you to the men of HOPEs House Christian Ministries!

Okay so when working in a dangerous or manufacturing environment, it’s often necessary to wear a safety vest. Though this is appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) it doesn’t actually protect anything!! LOLOL! So why wear it? It makes you more VISIBLE so others operating machinery can see you and help you avoid harm or danger. It warns them of your presence.
As men, we were often raised in environments where we had to wear a “safety vest” of coolness, hardness, aggression, anger, indifference, rage or anything to keep people from “trying” us or even approaching us. We basically warned others to stay at arms distance. So even though that created a false safety, it also created a distance, disconnection and often lead to isolation. And yes we bring this into the church!
At @hopeshousecm we endeavor to create a safe space where men can take off their vests and be real, raw and relatable on a regular basis. And when we authentically connect, and converse, we can create a community of impact! Is it a risk? Definitely! But anything worth having is going to cost you something.
If you’re interested in connecting with other men in a safe healthy space, DM me or leave a comment below #nosafetyvest
