If you're in Karlovy Vary at @kviff this week, come and join us for ICDA's panel discussion:

Somewhere In Between: Central & Eastern European Actors in International Casting

Thursday, 9 July
12:00 - 1:30 PM
Workshop & Meeting Room, Kaiserbad
Mariánskolázeňská 306/2, 360 01 Karlovy Vary

Panelists: Ana Geislerová (Actor), Piotr Bartuszek (Casting Director), Domnica Circiumaru (Casting Director)
Moderator: Sam Jones (Casting Director)

As international productions continue to look beyond traditional casting hubs, actors from Central and Eastern Europe are playing an increasingly important role on the global stage. But what opportunities are opening up, and what challenges remain?

Our panel brings together acclaimed Actor Ana Geislerová with leading Casting Directors Piotr Bartuszek and Domnica Circiumaru, moderated by Casting Director Sam Jones, for a conversation about how talent from the region is discovered, assessed and cast for international productions.

From language and accent to self-tapes, representation and changing industry expectations, we'll explore what's shifting in international casting and what actors can do to position themselves for success.

Whether you're an actor, filmmaker, casting professional or simply curious about the future of European screen talent, we'd love to see you there.

A Cruel Love: The Ruth Ellis Story - ITVX
If you enjoy watching true crime this is a drama for you. Ruth Ellis is a woman who went through a lot of trauma in her life and faced domestic abuse at the hands of someone she loved.
She is also judged in regards to her extra marital affairs; her divorce, her social class and the attitudes of society at the time especially for women in a patriarchal society.
I did feel sympathy for Ruth; the decisions she made also affected her children who were innocent; one could also argue that Ruth was also innocent in ways.
Lucy Boynton portrays the character of Ruth Ellis with charm, charisma and a vulnerability a of a woman who faced many knocks in her life, a great casting and her whole look was very much glamour, so I liked her hair, make up and outfits throughout because Ruth was a class woman @itvxofficial @itv @itvstudios @britboxtv @lucyboynton1 @realjulietstevenson @toby__stephens @charliecowper_aco @tomoisummers @audreybrissonj @davidbickfordcb @jackhawthorndesign @advaitkottary @missbessb @ij_pr @leehavenjones @bryangavigan @emilybilverstone1 @natasha_luxa_richards
