The trip made it out of group chat...back in February 😅 celebrated the birthday of one my very best friends with more of our friends from around the country!! And what a time it was from catfishing airbnb's, a broken sunroof, no Bluetooth, basically the plague, and more!!

Between all of us, there's pics of every millisecond but I tried to condense it as much as I could. I miss you guys, I can't wait for yym2 🤍

The sweetest surprise for Baby Hill and I happened at @firehouseglass today. I may be partial, but I'd say this was the best staff meeting ever 🥹

A huge thanks to @jesslueck, @sammaaaaaaaay, @ashh2208, @greg_lueck, @drewsie777, & Chelsey for making this happen.

Guest appearances by @uncle_pankratz, baby books, the best ginger beer/pineapple cider, games, cake and pizza. We're one lucky dolphin.

On Sunday we lost a dear friend and alumni of the program. Juan Carlos Garcia.

Juan Carlos graduated from WSU Vancouver in 2024 with a major in humanities and a minor in fine arts, receiving the Chancellor’s Award for Student Achievement. This award recognizes one student’s love of learning, persistence to overcome barriers in pursuit of academic goals, leadership potential and involvement in campus life.

Juan Carlos was all this and more.

Along with his daughter and best friend, Sammy, their academic adventure began at Clark College and continued at WSU Vancouver. This father-daughter duo was a force to be reckoned with, and a friend to all.

The WSU Vancouver community shares their grief with Sammy, his wife, Betty, all his family, and his many friends.

A few words about Juan Carlos, in his own words:

“Who am I?
I am a quiet voice that speaks loud through brush and paints as an escape from a world of chaos to a space of peace and tranquility. My Bilingual-bicultural upbringing makes me an induvial who understands both sides of the story (that of the immigrants and that of the ‘locals’) therefore I can relate with all sorts of people and make my work meaningful. My work inspires others to look closely at the world around them and find beauty in unthinkable places such as machines in dialysis rooms, the expressions of nurses, and the stories of their lives. I’m inspired by personal experiences to capture ideas and help others come to terms with the most difficult experiences in theirs. I am a listener and then a storyteller. Sometimes these stories are from friends, sometimes strangers and sometimes my own. I want my work to be free of any kind of inclination to avoid conflict in worldly contradiction although works of art will arise different interpretations leading to conflict and contradiction. The engine of my creativity is the need to live fully and transcend leaving a legacy that helps someone else to continue fighting.”

💕Juan Carlos, we know you lived fully, and without a doubt, you have indeed left a legacy for all of us to keep fighting.🌺

Rest in peace, dear friend. ❤️ 🇲🇽🙏🏼

Yapyard meetup made it out of the groupchat‼️‼️🗣🗣🔥🔥 It's kinda crazy that I went to LA to meet a bunch of online friends, never something I would have expected for myself. But Im so glad I did. This group is made of some of the funniest and most lovely people I know, and Im really grateful that I was able to spend time with them, it was an amazing experience. Im bad at choosing pictures, and we did a lot of cool stuff, so here's just a whole array of our adventures, of which there will surely be more of in the future

Last Saturday evening, we had the privilege of bartending the concert of a Grammy-award-winning band, Portugal. The Man!

Even better, the show was a benefit for Victory Academy, an incredible school for special-needs kids in Oregon.

Whenever you can serve people luscious libations while enjoying tasty tunes and helping an amazing cause, that right there is a good day, folks.
