Firsts are great but so are seconds!

✔️2nd Sammy Rae Concert
✔️2nd time getting to the barrier
☑️ 1st picture with Sammy!!

Two years ago we took the kids to see Sammy Rae and the Friends, and the kids dressed up like Tiny Sam and Tiny Kellon from the Thieves video. This year they went as Sam and Kevin from You Just Wanna Get With My Friends.

We hung around for a while and ran into Will and Max. (🫶) Roze was falling asleep and I was telling Charlie we had to leave, and he said we should stay for 7 more minutes, 11:43. Was pushing the button to cross the street and leave when I heard "Little Kevin!!". I thought it was another fan, but it was Sammy! She said she tried to come out to find them but got caught up, so I'm so glad we waited! This pic was taken at 11:44, and then my phone died. 🫠

Absolutely made the kids' night! (and mine!!)

Over the last 4 years, I’ve been very fortunate to photograph some amazing artists and bands multiple times throughout my career. One of my favorite bands in that category is Sammy Rae & The Friends. I was first introduced to them in 2023 when I photographed my first music festival in my hometown of Buffalo, New York, at Borderlands. I’ll never forget hearing this intro (Talk It Up) for the first time while I was in the photo pit photographing them. I was truly in awe of their artistry and performance. It’s easy to say I became a fan right away. That performance at Borderlands was actually the start of their tour then, and I didn’t know where my photography journey would take me, but fate brought me right back to them about six months later, just as they were ending their tour in Buffalo. By that time, I had started working with my first outlets, and it was one of the first shows I officially covered. It was also at that show where I met some incredible people who I am so happy they are in my life (@whereismattie , @st0ned.fruit , and @jauntyhorror ). I truly have Sammy Rae & The Friends to thank for that. Every time I see them, their artistry still amazes me, and there’s nothing quite like a Sammy Rae & The Friends crowd. Now that they’re on tour again, I can’t think of anything more than to photograph them once more. This time in my new city would be a dream—and I’d love to do it on film now too. So, if by any chance this could happen, I’m putting it out to the universe.

My last minute bonus point submission to be Kevin for @sammyraemusic at their SLC 10/16 concert! I will be using my wheelchair at the concert but I should be good to boogie without it, as shown here 😎

🫧✨🫧HELLO NICHE COMMUNITY 🫧✨🫧

In addition to being an active fan/collector of American Girl dolls and pets, Sylvanian babies, and lover of making fun and colorful doodles, I am a HUGE fan of the band Sammy Rae & The Friends.

Being involved in the online Friends community has not only reinvigorated my love of fandom and encouraged me to start being more open and unashamed of my interests and beliefs, but it’s also given me so many beautiful experiences and connections with some of the coolest people. So, to those friends, thank you for following along and supporting me and generally being such lights in the world 🌟☀️✨. The last few years, getting out to a concert was The Event that kept me going despite a lot of weird health stuff and the general state of the world being so scary. Live music is so healing and I just cannot say enough nice things about the band and the fan base they have curated 🥹🫶🏻.

Anyway, this little series was inspired by my friend @thejkpatel who responded with a SR&TF lyric reference when I had shared that I rescued my old dolls from storage a few weeks ago (included as a bonus slide). Again, very niche to my own experiences but I thought combining the special interests of my youth to the one in my adulthood would be a fun little crossover and a chance to try out some new techniques.

Let me know, do we share any beloved childhood memories? And what’s your favorite Friends song if you have one?

If this is how you’re finding me, hi!! I wanna be friends with ya! 💖🤟🎶
