POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

The New York Times just named Sammy's Deluxe as one of its 50 Best Restaurants in America Right Now, highlighting their alewives. But Midcoast Villager readers knew about this first -- and got the incredible back story about turning the baitfish into a meal.

“Nobody is selling this for food,” Richman, the chef-owner of Sammy’s (and, full disclosure, an old friend) told me recently. “I’m the weirdo. But alewives are one of many overlooked species that there’s not a market for that are actually incredibly delicious.”

‘You’re Sexy & You Know It!’ The cheeseburger at @sammysdeluxe needs no introduction because by now we all know it’s legendary. Having said that- all of Chef’s dishes are worthy of high praise- from his ‘simple’ farm green salads, to my favorite smoked haddock snacks, @americanunagi jalapeño poppers, and the spiciest, most delicious Dan Dan noodles I’ve tasted in months -(but I’m saving those photos for later because they deserve their own spotlight)…in other words, the kitchen’s ‘A Game’ was evident by the empty plates all over our table last evening! #yourmaineconcierge #youresexyandyouknowit #cheeseburger #thelegendcontinues #burgertime #signaturedish #saucy #locallysourced #deliciousaf #chefdriven #yeschef #eatlocal #supportlocal

🚨 DESTINATION DINNER ALERT 🚨 We’re so stoked to co-host a dinner with @sammysdeluxe at our beloved @calderwoodhall on North Haven this January! Sammy will be serving best-of-the-minute seafood, Mexican beach style, and Lorne will host a cash bar with some highly crushable wines, beers, and non-alcoholic tipples.
We will be reserving rooms for cozy overnighting at the lovely @nebolodge , just steps from the dinner venue. If you haven’t experienced the magic of North Haven in the wintertime, this is the time. Please DM us to register your interest in lodging before buying your tickets to the dinner. We want to assure accommodation for all who need it as the ferry won’t run back to Rockland until the morning of January 19th.
Dinner tickets available at the link in our bio... can’t wait to celebrate with you all!

I had a thoroughly delightful dinner at @sammysdeluxe in Rockland, Maine tonight. Shown here is Roasted Skate in tomatillo broth with potatoes, sweet peppers and cabbage (1st photo), the ‘Something Like a Greek Salad’ (2nd photo) and a watermelon/jalapeño granita for dessert (4th photo) with a cup of locally made herbal tea. #rocklandmaine #mainefood #skatewing #sammysdeluxe #midcoastmaine #foodmaptravels

We don’t serve just any lobster. Ty Babb dropped off a cooler full right before service and this crazy and deranged person has processed them all and will be serving them up - 1/2 or whole lobster - atop **lobster mushroom** bisque pasta. come GET it
