Struggling to bring your success in bullpens to the game?

Give these competitive bullpens a try

The goal is to create as gamelike conditions possible in your training. Here are two examples of what we have been using for bullpens, the first one competing against yourself. Balls worth more than strikes, in order to be in the positive you need to be over 66% strikes. Most often it comes down to the last pitch

The second bullpen is competing against a partner, match what they do or if they have a poor set step on the gas pedal and take a big lead

There are punishments for a “poor” bullpen to have something on the line during the bullpen, just like a game. Allow them to learn how to adapt to these stressful situations in practice so they know how to in games.

If every bullpen you throw is 3-5 of each pitch, get a feel for each and leave feeling good about yourself, ask yourself what is that truly doing for you and your development. You don’t get a second chance in a game, create a training environment that replicates that.

If you are feeling stuck in your training or development, shoot me a DM to get started
