POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

On October 14th, I had the honor of showcasing my work at the “Before It Was a Trend” Hair Show, an experience dedicated to honoring the beauty of Black hair and highlighting our deep-rooted connection to nature. ✨

Here are some of the headpieces and hairstyles I brought to life for this experience.

My intention was to pay homage to our ancestors by reimagining African traditional hairstyles while shedding a NU light on the endless possibilities of Black hair. Each creation became an opportunity to honor where we come from while exploring the revolutionary directions in which our artistry can evolve.

The process of creating these hairstyles felt deeply transformative, almost as if I were channeling something beyond myself. I allowed my imagination to lead while drawing inspiration from my reflection in nature, trusting the creative process to reveal what words could not.

I am beyond grateful to have been part of an experience that celebrates our culture, our creativity, and the intelligence embedded within our hair. A heartfelt thank you to @samry_curly for presenting this opportunity and cultivating a space for me to share my art with the world. 🤎 Also, a huge shoutout to @itsambiee for being my right hand throughout this entire process. Truly couldn’t have done it without y’all’s love and support.

I am excited about the future of Black hair and the possibilities that lie ahead. This is only the beginning. I look forward to continuing to push creative boundaries, challenge conventions, and create revolutionary hairstyles that honor our past while envisioning our future.

Our roots are ancient. Our artistry is limitless. ✨

Thank you to the team! ✨

And then, we sat down.

For a cup of tea.
For conversation.
For a moment to remember what is already here.

Alhamdulillah. 🌿
