Had an idea, flew to Japan, got inspired, flew to japan again, now we’re starting a matcha cafe. Many details left out… actually all of the details. It’s been another full time job and a half. But I am STOKED to get @mitsu.matchaa rolling in my home town. . At the risk of sounding egotistical, no one is doing it like this. We flew to China to develop clothing, matcha making kits, custom designed our furniture, I designed our space, built our signs from scratch, and thrifted all of our decor from Asia. I’ve taped every inch of our cafe dozens of times to make sure feng shui is perfect. We’ve invested over 30k already. I’ve been developing the menu for over a year now. So much goes into this without anyone seeing it. . My account will be a more behind the scenes cafe owner perspective so follow the journey 🫰🏼

After trying over a hundred matcha samples, we realized there’s no single “best” matcha. Some matchas shine with milk, some with sweetness, and other delicate ones are best enjoyed simply with warm water. Each has its own unique character. Instead of choosing one profile that fits all, we made a menu that gives people options to choose from based on what they’re looking for. #tea #matcha #matchacafe

We’re custom designing our furniture to perfectly fit our space with our friends in Foshan, China, a city that manufactures nearly 80% of the world’s furniture. We flew here to personally test materials, refine designs, and ensure every piece meets the quality and feel we want for the cafe. We spent long days walking through endless showroom floors and factories searching for the perfect couch, marble table, and measuring so each piece fits exactly where it’s meant to. When you visit our cafe, we hope you can feel the intentionality behind every detail, from the house made ingredients to the custom designed furniture you’ll sit on while enjoying your drink. 🍵

This past year we’ve been developing a matcha cafe for Boise. We’ve taken two trips to Japan to work with our suppliers and gather inspiration as well as China for our many designers and manufacturers. Everything we’re building is from scratch - Creating our menu, designing the space and custom furniture, clothing pieces, visiting Japanese tea farms, thrifting our decor in person from Japan and China, and much more. We are extremely excited to share our passion for matcha with the Boise community and can’t wait to see you in the cafe! Special thanks to @samueljhand for helping capture the moments in between
