This year, a great opportunity fell into my lap.
I’ve spent the last few months shaping it into something I’m super proud of.

It’s 22 John Street, a contemporary work club, designed to inspire creative minds.

Come in. Have a coffee. Hire a space.
Tell a friend to hire a space too.

Help me keep this place alive, and continue filling the world with human-made ideas.

AJ: Took some time out from editing my history of queer bookshops [out Spring 26] to sign copies of #ThomasTrue and chat to Jim at @gaysthewordbookshop, which is currently in a pop up shop a little way along Marchmont Street from the permanent address. Amazing how a shop can carry its soul to a new location. Bricks and mortar matter, I adore old buildings, but the magic that makes GTW such a legendary place of pilgrimage goes beyond that.

I ran into @philmelanson whose stunning historical fiction novel #Florenzer is a must read on my TBR - as soon as I'm allowed near it! I miss reading fiction 😢 Phil is as gorgeous in person as he is on the page and what a brilliant concept for a novel, have you read it? CONGRATULATIONS on conjuring da Vinci to the page.

Then a lovely (sober) pub drink with handsome and funny @samuelnormington who is lovely and silly and precisely what my tired mind needed.

I'm very lucky, I know I am. What better way to live our lives than... exhausted by creative toil and revived by the joy of terrific people?
