Ever wonder what “Sancochos” means? In sportfishing, a “sancocho” happens when a fish strikes your bait but leaves you reeling in only the head- a name inspired by the fishing lifestyle that’s such a big part of the Crystal Coast!

For Carteret County native Chase Diller, tourism has helped turn a lifelong idea into a livelihood. Since opening his doors in downtown Beaufort in 2024, Chase has created original merchandise with the Crystal Coast at the heart of each piece. His story is a prime example of what makes tourism here so special: visitors get to experience a place unlike anywhere else while supporting the locals who call it home.

When you stop by Sancochos, there’s a good chance you’ll head home with something memorable... and a good laugh!
