In 2006, Sandeep did something almost unheard of in the world of Carnatic Music. He left his home in Los Angeles and moved to India, a bold and pioneering step to fully immerse himself in his art. His career has since been marked by numerous accolades, including a Juno Award nomination and an invitation to become a GRAMMY®️ Voting Member of The Recording Academy.

Beyond the stage, Sandeep is a dedicated teacher, nurturing the next generation of artistes and instilling a deep appreciation for the heritage and emotional depth of Carnatic Music.

Sandeep Narayan (@sandeepnarayan) is a celebrated Carnatic musician, known for his melodious voice, intricate renditions, and deeply emotive performances.

Though he was born in Los Angeles, California, Sandeep went against the norms and moved from America to India in 2006, to pursue his dream of being a musician full time. His reverse migration was a first of its kind for an aspiring artist in Carnatic Music.

In 2019, the Government of India’s Sangeet Natak Akademi awarded Sandeep with the prestigious title, “Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar.” He is also the recipient of the titles “Isai Peroli” from Kartik Fine Arts, Chennai, and “Shanmukha Sangeetha Shiromani” from Sri Shanmukhananda Sangeetha Sabha, Mumbai, and was named 2024’s “Artiste of the Year” by the Shrinivas Institute of World Musique, in memory of the late Mandolin Shrinivas. Sandeep was also nominated for a Juno Award (Canada), for the EP Arul with Yanchan Produced (@yanchanproduced) in March, 2025.

Sandeep’s musical journey began at the age of four under the guidance of his mother, Smt. Shubha Narayan, in Cerritos, California. He later received advanced training from esteemed gurus like Shri KS Krishnamurthi and Shri Sanjay Subrahmanyan.

Over the years, he has captivated audiences worldwide, performing in regions such as the USA, Europe, Australia, and the Middle East. As a dedicated music educator, he continues to inspire and mentor students globally in the art of Carnatic music. Today, Sandeep serves as a cultural bridge, connecting traditional Indian music with global audiences.
