Sometimes letting go is necessary for your own peace. You can love, forgive, and still choose distance. Release what is draining you. Protect your mind, guard your heart, and make room for what God has next. Let it go—for your sake. #mind #skellsimmons #sanity #ItsaMatterofDominion #letItGo @skellsimmons

My mother discovered my talents and nurtured them as best she could, she would often enter me in the drawing contests that were in the news paper and TV guide, not sure what happened but I do remember getting a response back once. I think it was a way to suck you into paying for mail order art instruction. My interest in Bruce Lee lead me to martial arts and all things related to it! This introduced me to the comic book Shang-Chi and all things Marvel. I wanted to create comic books and began developing my own characters and writing stories. My gift for illustration was taken to new heights when I attended Simeon vocational high school where the commercial art teach Mr. William Myles made a great impression upon me. It was the first time I’d met someone who not only had skills I aspired to, but he had the business knowledge that showed me that there was a way to use my gifts to make a living. It’s amazing how having a few positive male influences can motivate and inspire when those awkward teen years kick in. My sensei “shorty” Mills asked me to design the logo for his martial arts academy, from there he introduced me to one of his Fraternity brothers and at the age of sixteen I began working as a commercial illustrator for a black owned advertising agency. My journey… #illustration #graphicdesign #artdirection #photogrpahy #filmmaking #writer #director
