Forgotten Heroes, Italian Campaign 1943-45 by Sandra Rush is nominated in the 2026 ABLE Golden Book Awards under the Best Non-Fiction Book category ✨

This work presents accounts shared by surviving veterans and family members of those who served in Italy during the Italian Campaign (1943–45). Drawing on recollections, letters, diaries, photographs and documents, the book records experiences of soldiers who lived and fought through difficult wartime conditions. Through these personal narratives, it documents acts of courage, survival and the bonds formed among those who served, preserving memories of individuals whose contributions are often less widely recognised in historical accounts.
