Starting up the night with a Benassi banger.

You know we don’t just listen to music here at Midnight Transmission.

We stir things up.

We get up and move.

And tonight feels like a very good night for Illusion.

Benassi Bros. feat. Sandy Chambers - Illusion (Sfaction Version).

Open your eyes and your mind to that hypnotic, unmistakable Benassi sound.

That compressed, elastic low end. The steady 134 BPM pulse. Those sharp electronic textures. Then Sandy Chambers floating over all of it with a vocal that somehow makes the whole thing feel lighter.

For me, this sound is peak 2000s.

There’s something about that whole Benassi production world that immediately brings back city lights, late drives and a period when European dance music sounded completely unapologetic.

And Illusion has some history of its own.

The Sfaction mixes first appeared through d in 2003, before this 5:09 version became the opening track of Pumphonia in 2004.

Behind the record were Benny Benassi, Alle Benassi and longtime collaborator Larry Pignagnoli, with Sandy Chambers delivering the vocal.

The single later reached #12 in France and topped the French Club 40 chart.

But numbers aren’t really why I came back to it.

That bassline still tells you everything within seconds.

No introduction needed.

You know exactly what era you’ve entered.

When the golden hour bleeds into midnight and the highway becomes your only runway. There is a very specific, almost hypnotic geometry to a sunset freeway drive: concrete barriers blurring, the open-top roadster cutting through the warm golden-hour breeze, and the low-end frequencies of a masterclass electronic cut reshaping the cockpit pressure.

Originally anchoring the 2003 Hypnotica era, this 2023 future-rave reimagining by Hypaton and Benny Benassi bridges two distinct club generations, letting Sandy Chambers' legendary vocal delivery cut straight through the digital static. It’s an immersive transit through space, time, and sound where the chaos of the day completely dissolves into 128 BPM momentum.

Niche Fact: Benny Benassi’s @bennybenassi landmark 2003 debut album Hypnotica fundamentally defined the minimalist blueprint of early electro-house, with Illusion standing out as a core staple of that era's underground and club circuit. Two decades later, modern future-rave architect Hypaton @hypaton joined forces with Benassi to reconstruct the track from the ground up. By marrying vintage analog synth emulations with heavy, peak-time sidechain compression and preserving Sandy Chambers' @sandychambersofficial unmistakable original vocal recordings, the 2023 rework acts as a masterclass bridge connecting classic rave heritage with modern mainstage dynamics.

Netzwerk - "Memories"

Il 15 maggio 1995 usciva "Memories", considerato il capolavoro del progetto Netzwerk.

I dischi del progetto erano pubblicati sulla DWA (Dance World Attack) di Roberto Zanetti (ex Savage), una delle etichette piú importanti della Dance italiana negli anni '90, suoi erano alcuni fra i piú grandi successi Dance del decennio: ICE MC, Playahitty, Corona, Double You, Alexia erano tutte produzioni sue.

Il progetto era nato nel 1992 con il nome Netzwerk (network in tedesco) da un' idea di Zanetti ed era formato da Maurizio Tognarelli, Marco Galeotti e Marco Genovesi, mentre la voce era di Sandy Chambers, la futura Sandy che abbiamo incontrato con il progetto Corona, Chambre e molti altri. I primi 2 singoli erano cover di canzoni anni '80, molto cari a Zanetti.

Nel 1994 si decide di iniziare una nuova fase del progetto e subentrano gli "House of glass", duo di produttori House formato da Gianni Bini e Fulvio Perniola, e si passa alla cantante Simone Jackson, la futura Simone Jay. Si decide anche di scrivere una canzone del tutto nuova invece che una cover e si rivela una scelta vincente.

Anche grazie alla promozione radiofonica da parte di Albertino nella Deejay Parade e di Italia Network, "Passion" raggiunse il 9° posto nella classifica italiana vendendo oltre 30.000 copie.

"Memories" supera addirittura quel risultato, vendendo oltre 33.000 copie, viene stampato anche in Spagna, Francia, Germania e Canada; arriva al 2° posto della classifica italiana e al 1° nella Deejay parade. Partecipa anche al Festivalbar e viene inserita nella "Festivalbar Superdance '95", compilation che venne creata per la prima volta visto che fu l' edizione del festival con piú canzoni Dance in assoluto. Appare ovviamente anche nelle compilation piú importanti di quell' estate: Hits on five 9, Alba vol. 2, Hit parade dance 2, Danceteria 10 e molte altre.
