Long mixed track today with hard surface, soft surface, vegetation changes, and multiple terrain transitions.

One thing people sometimes notice with experienced tracking dogs is that they don’t always indicate every article they encounter. That doesn’t necessarily mean the dog never scented it.

As dogs gain experience, the track itself can become reinforcing. Every turn solved, every transition worked through, every piece of scent information processed successfully has value. The hunt becomes rewarding. The problem becomes rewarding. Forward progress becomes rewarding.

That is why article indication has to be maintained and reinforced as its own behavior. Otherwise some dogs will begin to place greater value on continuing the track than stopping to indicate an article.

Watching Gary and Max work today was a reminder that there is something special about a simple life.

A good dog working scent.

A long line in your hand.

Time spent outdoors.

Friends you trust.

Meaningful work.

For all the noise the world creates, there is something to be said for finding a purpose, putting your head down, and doing it well.

Some of the richest moments in life don’t look rich at all.

Some days I catch myself looking around and realizing how lucky I am.

A yard full of dogs.

A team that feels more like family than coworkers.

Good people working toward something bigger than themselves.

There is a lot of talk about finding work you love. For me, it looks like muddy boots, dog hair on everything, laughter during training sessions, and spending the day surrounded by people and dogs that make life better.

Dog training takes consistency. The dogs need us to show up every day. They need patience, guidance, and repetition. The beautiful part is that every little breakthrough feels earned. Every new skill, every confidence boost, every moment where a dog starts to understand what you’re asking of them is worth celebrating.

And I don’t get to experience that alone.

I get to do it alongside an incredible team that has become family.

People who care deeply about the dogs.

People who care about each other.

People who show up, work hard, laugh hard, and believe in the mission.

The dogs make every day fun.

The team makes every day special.

Somehow, this is what we get to call work.

That’s a pretty good life. 🐾❤️

There was no planning behind this interview.

No rehearsed answers. No prepared statements.

Just people speaking from the heart.

Watching it back reminded us of something important.

This mission was never built by one person.

It was built by people who chose to stand shoulder to shoulder with one another.

What we have here goes far beyond a team. It feels like family.

We’ve trained together. Solved problems together. Spent long days in the heat together. Celebrated wins together. Carried setbacks together. Picked each other up when things got heavy. Defended one another. Supported one another. Trusted one another.

The dogs matter.

The veterans matter.

The mission matters.

But the people standing beside us matter too.

There is a level of gratitude that is hard to put into words for the men and women who have chosen to walk this road with us. Every trainer brings something valuable. Every volunteer strengthens the foundation. Every person who believes in what we’re building becomes part of something larger than themselves.

Looking around at this group, there is a tremendous amount of pride and gratitude.

Not because of what we’ve accomplished so far.

Because of who gets to accomplish it together.

To every trainer, volunteer, supporter, and member of this family, thank you.

We are grateful for you.

We are proud to stand beside you.

And we’re honored to call you family.

Some people volunteer a few hours.

Some people donate.

Some people mentor.

Some people train dogs.

Some people simply show up when another human being needs to know they’re not alone.

The Liberty Leash Project was never built around one person. It was built around the idea that real change happens when ordinary people decide to carry a small piece of a very heavy load.

Veteran suicide, isolation, trauma, and hopelessness are problems too large for any one organization to solve. That is why we are building a decentralized network of trainers, volunteers, mentors, supporters, and communities willing to stand together.

You do not need to be a dog trainer.

You do not need military experience.

You do not need to have all the answers.

You just need the willingness to help build something bigger than yourself.

If you’ve been looking for a way to make a difference, this is your invitation.

Join the Liberty Leash Project.

Together, we can build something that outlives all of us.

The Premack Principle is one of the most powerful tools in dog training because it allows us to use what the dog naturally wants as reinforcement, but none of that matters if the emotional state of the dog or the handler is unstable before the session even begins. Before I look at obedience, leash management, or mechanics, I’m watching emotional state first, because tension, frustration, insecurity, and pressure travel straight down the leash and directly affect engagement, learning, and clarity.

This is a question I get asked sometimes.

Truth is, once you’ve watched veterans fight to hold onto themselves after coming home, borders stop mattering real fast.

Working together makes us stronger.

More trainers.
More dogs.
More people willing to stand shoulder to shoulder behind the mission.

That is how you move mountains.

The mission is veterans.

That’s it.

Service dogs save lives. #libertyleashproject

Carolina heat sitting heavy on the pavement. Shopping carts rattling past. Doors opening and closing. People moving in every direction while service dogs worked calmly through the noise and motion like they belonged there.

Long hours on concrete. Good conversations between reps. Quiet progress happening right in front of you without needing to force it.

The kind of training day that reminds you how good this life really is.

A man alone gets tired.

A team changes the weather.

That is the difference.

Competition sharpens edges. It makes people innovate. It makes people adapt. It pushes standards higher. There is value in that.

But collaboration is something else entirely.

Collaboration is what happens when people stop guarding territory and start attacking the problem together.

One trainer matters.

One breeder matters.

One donor matters.

One volunteer matters.

Now stack hundreds of them together behind the same mission and watch what happens.

Watch doors open that used to stay locked.

Watch dogs move faster into homes.

Watch knowledge travel faster.

Watch people stop drowning alone.

Most people have never felt real momentum before. The kind where everybody pulls in the same direction hard enough that the ground underneath starts shifting.

That kind of force is rare.

But when it happens, giants fall.

And make no mistake, the thing we are fighting is a giant.

Veterans dying.

People isolated.

Dogs sitting unused while somebody somewhere is running out of time.

That problem does not get solved by one organization standing on a hill screaming that they have the answer.

It gets solved when good people lock shields and move together.

That is the power behind this.

Not ego.

Not ownership.

Not control.

Movement.

Real movement.

The kind that makes people feel like they are part of something that actually matters.

Because they are.

Mr. Gron is the product of a shared vision between Triune Kennels and Sapper K9 building dependable, balanced dogs with real purpose behind them.

This exceptional Belgian Malinois comes from outstanding bloodlines and has been carefully developed into far more than just a dog with bite work. Gron is a well-rounded, controlled, and reliable personal protection dog built to live in the real world alongside his person or family. Clear headed in the home. Social and stable in public. Confident when pressure is applied. Able to turn it on when needed and settle right back down when the work is over.

The goal has never been to create chaos or intimidation. It’s to build trustworthy dogs with sound temperaments, strong obedience, environmental confidence, and the ability to protect when the situation truly calls for it.

Dogs like Gron are designed to be “plug and play” for the right home, but we also believe strongly that success comes through proper handler integration. Every dog we place goes home with a thorough handoff process, handler education, and continued support to help create a successful long-term partnership.

That relationship matters just as much as the training itself.

We’re proud of what Gron represents and excited for the family or individual that eventually calls him their own.
