My beauty lies in my strength
Even when I am broken
There's more to it
See my naked self
My dark skin brightened by nature
Which glows as it mirrors in the sun and moon
And when I smile
It is as the stars in the night skies
When my hair drops down my back
I walk passed you,you have to look back
My bare feet walks any length and breadth
My hands work,till,mould and make to every extent.
On those nights,
My mouth sings melodies and eulogies
As my waist moves swiftly to the drumbeats
And yet slowly,
My feet walks to the bed of he who awaits me
My womb conceives
And in pain I bring forth another beauty like me
And when my 'he' is gone
I have to step up to provide and shield
Listen to the voices of the organ
Beating beneath my breast
Take a deep look
My soul is transparent you can see through
My spirit,the link to my creator and a beauty of the goddess me
So please don't look down on me
Because I am a black woman
But look up and behold my beauty
