Three days ago, The universe did its big one and ripped my little sister’s life from her. To say she had a lot more life to live is an understatement. In her 24 years she had endured so much, a lot of it privately. Having to navigate circumstances that nobody else I know has, between battling a debilitating chronic pain illness, losing both our parents, and the overbearing mental health obstacles that come from both. To get out of bed each day had to be a choice and to be the positive force she was was a testament to the kind of strength we were raised with by our fearless mother who Sarah finally gets to rest alongside in eternity. Sarah worked hard every day to make each day worth living and to find the things in life that propelled her forward, and it kills me that she won’t get to see through the life she fought daily for. As her older sister, it was always my inherent and underlying duty to look out for and protect my baby sister, and now it has to be the other way around. We were supposed to live forever together, carrying each other through more once-in-a-lifetime moments and always having each others backs. I will forever miss our goofy laughing moments, our long car rides to see family together, our movie dates, and the one person in this world who knew what it’s like to have lived the life we had. I find comfort in the fact that my sister was never one to let herself be ignored, and I know that her little voice will find its way to me as I figure out what the hell it is I’m supposed to do without her. The support surrounding me right now has been tremendous and overwhelming, and I thank everyone who’s already reached out and shown their support. Rest easy little one, I love you ❤️
