Why is it when we talk about hostages, the media only talks about Israeli hostages? Have we forgotten about the 3,000+ Palestinian hostages held in Israeli jails?

Here’s a excerpt from Vox:
“On October 12, in the West Bank village of Wadi al-Seeq, Israeli soldiers and settlers detained three Palestinians and spent hours abusing them. The Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported that the Israelis stripped the detainees down to their underwear, blindfolded and photographed them, beat them with knives and an iron pipe, put out cigarettes on their bodies, and even urinated on them.

…one tool of repression that Israel has long deployed against Palestinians and has used even more aggressively in recent weeks is administrative detention, a practice that allows Israel to jail Palestinians indefinitely without charge or trial.

…beyond administrative detention, when charges are brought against Palestinians in the West Bank, they are almost always tried in military courts that have a near-perfect conviction rate. (By contrast, Israelis are usually tried in civil court.) Palestinians, in other words, are sent to a trapdoor instead of a fair trial.

That’s why, even well before this war, the release of these prisoners has been a key Palestinian demand in negotiations with Israel.”

💥📢 say it with me: free Palestine.

“…it is not enough for me to stand before you tonight and condemn riots. It would be morally irresponsible for me to do that without, at the same time, condemning the contingent, intolerable conditions that exist in our society. These conditions are the things that cause individuals to feel that they have no other alternative than to engage in violent rebellions... a riot is the language of the unheard.”

It took me too long in my privileged life to see, hear, understand the plight of Palestinians. But the world knows now, and we can never go back.

We can never unlearn the devastation that settler-colonialism brought to the Palestinian people, in the form of resettlement, sieges, blockades, censorship, kidnapping, torture, oppression and apartheid. We can never unsee the videos of thousands of innocent Palestinian children murdered by the Israeli occupation. We can never hand-wave another local election away knowing that the vast majority of our representatives support throwing unconditional military aid to support a cancerous, genocidal, racist, fascist regime.

A ceasefire isn’t enough, free Palestine.

Visit @jewishvoiceforpeace Action Alerts tab on their webpage, it takes less than 2 minutes to put in your info and be patched through to your representatives. Do not let them go into the office or have a moment of peace without reminding them of the state-sponsored atrocities in Palestine - call, write, message them every single day.

Share educational resources, content, stories, and speak truth to power. Let people know that sharing bull$hit propaganda manufactures consent for genocide. I’ve been learning a lot from @theimeu @eye.on.palestine @nodutdol @aljazeeraenglish.
