Marathon #5🏁| 2:45 | BQ☑️ | Eugene, OR📍

I can’t even put into words what this race meant to me and how it made me feel. The energy, the crowd, the atmosphere, my support system.

I set out a goal that was pretty ambitious (a 2:48 marathon) and was nervous at first. I wanted to qualify for Boston since I failed miserably last year, and the year prior I missed the cutoff time by one minute and 10 seconds to be exact.

So this was my redemption race. Not to prove anything to anyone, but to show myself and others that we are so much stronger and more capable than we think. This race changed everything for me. What more can I do?

The day before the race, I had this gut feeling in me that I was going to outperform the original goal I set out for. It was almost as if I knew I was going to shatter my previous PR effort and BQ. And sure enough, that’s exactly what happened. You almost have to be delusional with a little bit of optimism and self confidence.

Doesn’t matter what anyone else says or thinks about you. That’s on them. And whether you think you can or can’t… you’re right! 😤

Leaving the Padawan. I’m filled with so many emotions. It’s been a long 8 days this week. Adventures, work. moving Sar into her first apartment and all so far from home. It feels like an ending, a beginning all at once. Travel like this is funny. Here to settle the ducking, trying to squeeze in the last ounces of childhood while marking her journey to adulthood. I like to be the accidental tourist on these trips, exploring a place, finding some running paths and hikes that connect me back to me.

We swam, hiked and camped Crater Lake. We soaked in far-out, old hippie hot springs and spent 2 great nights in Bend. I worked a day for The Lab/The Man. Did all the Dad college move-in stuff—assembling furniture and dropping cash!

She’s settled. I’m not. I’m restless and wrestling with this next phase. I’ve not seen Asha in a month. I miss my dog and my trails. I’m spent! Oregon’d out! I Steve Prefontaine’d the shit out of this trip!
