What if you stopped asking whether you’re enough and started asking what you have to give?

Yesterday, in the Breakthrough Boardroom with @saraemmerson we talked about standing firmly in the value we bring as leaders. And it stayed with me.

Because I’ve spent much of my life quietly wondering, Is what I bring enough?

This morning, I found myself confronting that familiar lie again, the lie that I am not enough.

But the truth is, I was made intentionally. I’ve been given gifts, lived experiences that have shaped me, and opportunities to learn, grow, fail, begin again, and gain wisdom.

I wonder how many of us, especially women, have confused humility with making ourselves smaller.

We downplay our accomplishments, question our qualifications, and hesitate to name what we’re good at. All while carrying these enormous hearts to love, help, lead, and serve.

What if humility is simply seeing ourselves truthfully? Not exaggerating our gifts or pretending we don’t have them, but acknowledging them with gratitude.

This has been meaningful work for me through coaching. Getting clear on my values and strengths has helped me become more grounded in what I bring.

Do I still feel insecure? Absolutely.

But I spend less time wondering whether I belong in the room and more time considering how I can contribute.

Maybe that’s the invitation for you today, too. To stop dismissing what’s already there and generously offer what you’ve been given.

You can be humble and confident. You can serve others without making yourself small.

One thought from yesterday’s Breakthrough Boardroom keeps coming back to me:

When you own your value, you elevate the experience for everyone else.

Save this for the days you forget just how much you bring to the table. 🤍

When we bounce back, we can easily return to the same patterns that got us stuck in the first place.

BOUNCING FORWARD means learning, adapting, and using what happened to create a different path ahead.

That’s the heart of my keynote, “Bouncing Forward: How to Propel Forward Through Failure,” where I use research on resilience, hope, and positive adaptation to give audiences practical tools for turning setbacks into forward momentum.

Our kids packed 300 backpacks filled with school supplies today at Radical Love. The backpacks went home with our international neighbors and to kids at our partner schools. Additionally, our kids packed 250 snack bags, which will help feed kids in our community, and lovingly made blankets for refugee neighbors.

Adults heard an amazing presentation on “Courage and Confidence” by executive coach Sara Emmerson, and presentations from Waubonsee Community College and Literacy Volunteers of Fox Valley. Chapelstreet Church provided and served a pizza lunch to everyone!

Through tears, a refugee woman new to Radical Love shared, “I’ve dreamed of a place like this, where I am welcomed and important.”

🤲 We learn together at our Summer Program. 🤲

Each week business professionals, community leaders, and loving neighbors share presentations that help us grow.

Week 1: Creating a following a budget and owning a home. 💲🏠

Our translation technology allows adults to hear presentations live in their native language.

Adults then choose their "track" for the remainder of time. Week 1 Tracks include:

💰Budget practice - Jake Owens
🏘Home Ownership - David Blancas
🫂Practicing conversing, and Serving and Volunteering - Sara Emmerson

Additional volunteers are needed each week to help greet, distribute food, technology assistance, and kids' programming.

FILO 2026

Two full days of learning, growing, meeting new people, and hanging out with the some of the Soul City production team. Two days of joining other creatives in worship and not being behind the scenes. It’s hard to pinpoint a single favorite moment. One of the coolest moments was getting to meet @jeremy_van_valkenburg and @christina__pendleton. Two creatives who I’ve followed on instagram for I don’t know how long. Two people who have inspired me. The best way to sum up the entire experience is this, “It’s not technical. It’s spiritual.” — @jeremy_van_valkenburg

Took two fun little point-and-shoot cameras with me to this year’s @filocommunity Conference and captured a few moments along the way. It was refreshing to experience everything without constantly reaching for my phone.

Here’s a quick, little glimpse into our legal ceremony, created by @bts_bridal ❤️‍🔥 This was the most intimate of our three celebrations. Traditional, deeply personal, and held with just 32 of our favorite people. (Many of them traveled in just to be with us. Especially with a relatively short engagement, it meant more than we’ll ever be able to say!)

Every detail was very intentional, every vendor chosen with love. Many were already friends, some are family… and yes, I even wore my @sneex (shout out @sarablakely !)

Looking back, it feels like a soft, golden blur. The moment my husband and I quietly wove our lives and cultures together, beginning the life we’d been building toward. It was truly magical. 💫
