Sarah Prisuta is a rising eighth-grade student at Pine-Richland Middle School in Pennsylvania. The 5-foot-6 outside hitter also plays for Pittsburgh Elite. She outlined her journey in this Digging Dish.
“My mom played volleyball in college, which inspired me to pay a little bit more attention to it, which is really where I started to find my love for the sport,” she said. “I started doing camps for volleyball at around 8, but my first year playing club volleyball was in my 12U.”
She has become a versatile player.
“My main position has always been an outside hitter, but I have played all the way around and some right side,” she said.
She wants to play college volleyball at the highest level.
“I have always dreamed of playing Division I volleyball at a big school,” she said. “I understand how much hard work that is, but I am willing to do what it takes.”
She enjoys helping her team succeed in any form or fashion.
“Not only do I love the volleyball game itself, but I love the aspect of teamwork volleyball includes,” she said. “The sport makes everyone work together, which helps to build friendships and personal leaders on and off the court.”
She gets touches in every day to make sure she is always ascending.
“For training, I always make sure to touch a volleyball every day, whether it is doing ball control along my driveway or practicing hitting and different types of shots on my net at home,” she said. “I also make sure to do frequent ab, leg and arm workouts. I want to get started doing strength training with an instructor. I also get privates with coaches at Pittsburgh Elite to work on my skills.”
She offered words of wisdom.
“My advice for any younger players is to try to always try to let your frustration go and never let it show,” she said. “No matter the circumstances, you always want to be the best version of yourself that you can be.”
