This will be the seventh year you’re not here. Not a day goes by I don’t think of you Nathan. Not a day goes by I don’t replay that day in my head. I haven’t lived life the same after that day. Grief is something so powerful that comes in different waves. Without all the love and support I have received since that day I don’t know where I would be. it has shaped me into the woman I’ve become, and I am forever grateful for my community, who has grown with me threw this journey. I’ve found so much peace with honoring him by sharing laughter, surfing, and loving everyday so sacredly. What has help me the most is to slow down… helped me realize that you’re always still gonna be here in my heart.. and that you surprise me every day with a beautiful ghost wink.
What’s a ghost wink you may ask?
It sounds silly, but it came from a Disney movie.
The element of the film that I find weighing most heavily on my mind is the concept of the “ghost wink,” a subtle way for a ghost to let you know that they’re with you.
it really resonated with me… So I asked myself do I have a ghost wink?
Does he tried to visit me and tell me that he’s here? Have I just been oblivious of it for all this time because I’ve been in such a dark hole of grief and moving too fast? After putting the pieces together i thought about it and poof, I discovered my ghost wink .
A butterfly… 🦋This was last year in July when I started noticing them. Shortly after the movie. Since then I get winks every single day, rain or shine.
No matter where I am in the world, far deep deserts of Morocco or Mexico. The lush forest of Ireland , even at home in sometimes sunny California. It’s just crazy that anywhere I am every single day I see one.
Even in desolate places that you wouldn’t even think had butterflies .
He’s always there, just have to stay tuned in and listen. It’s been really hard sharing my story over the years, but I hope I inspire other people to know that you’re not alone. Grief is hard. Keep ya head up, and look out for your potential signs of a ghost wink 😉 🤍🥹

All the women that inspire me, you know who you are. It truly takes a village to raise strong women, and I feel I have that.
