What a pleasure it was to play in the pit bands for Chicago and Young Frankenstein at the @nlbarn this past month and a half. Having the opportunity to work and hang out with a huge group of super talented actors, crew and TWO kickass bands was a blast, and I’m extremely grateful for the friends and connections I made along the way. Until next time!

Had a fantastic time back at @nlbarn for their run of Chicago! It was truly a spectacular production to be a part of! 10/10 recommend spending almost a month in the mountains of New Hampshire should you get the chance. Thanks to @silversteinworks @connselmerinc and @yanagisawa_sax for making the best gear in the game. #musicaltheatre #connselmerartist #silversteinworks #chicagothemusical

What a joy and honor to be part of the world premiere of Raymie Nightingale! I mothered, I lanterned, and I loved every second of being on this journey with this incredible all-female cast! Big thanks to @nadnerb1313 for his direction and infectious silliness, @stageworksnj237 for continuing to be my home away from home, @caitlynminuto and @jillian_mauro for being guiding lights, Emily for holding it dowwwn as a one man band, and of course to @hiltonpolly and @sarahnelsonpiano for sharing their work with us! So lucky to have shared this experience with this special group who are now forever friends! ❤️

You. Now. This. 🪄 Going into this season, the plan was- to audition for Ragtime. When circumstances made that production unable to happen, I think it’s fair to say many of us felt disappointed and unsure of what would come next. Then came Raymie Nightingale… something new and unknown but we took a risk, said yes and got to work. And somehow, out of that uncertainty came something incredibly special. This cast was made up of women who, in almost any other circumstance, would probably be considered each other’s “competition”. A group of strong leading ladies with enormous talent, acting chops, and voices that could each carry a show on their own. But instead of competition, this experience was all collaboration. Support. Friendship. Sisterhood. Much like the three Rancheros in our story. Our Director, Brendan became the ultimate matchmaker of female friendships- not only creating the perfect friendships onstage, but offstage too. The relationships built in this process are ones I truly didn’t expect, and ones I’ll treasure deeply. And personally, this show challenged me and my process in the best possible ways. Stepping into baton twirling Ida Nee’s full denim jumpsuit, enormous white cowboy boots, (and even bigger hair) was one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had creatively. Leaning fully into being a character actress - outside of my typical “ingenue soprano” box - felt freeing and exhilarating. Getting to be loud, brash, silly, bold, messy, and larger than life was a very fun change of pace. And then there was playing Alice. Her desperate need for connection, for someone to simply take her hand and see her, hit home for me in ways I didn’t anticipate. Finding the humanity in her while also embracing all her chaos and humor was such a powerful and joyful challenge. Raymie Nightingale reminded me that you can be “a girl with a plan” but sometimes the things you never planned for become the experiences you needed most. *continued in comments*

Strong Female Protagonist, from our BMI Musical Theatre Workshop adaptation of What We Do in the Shadows lyrics by Amber Treadway music by Sarah Nelson Nadja: Ali Regan piano: Caleb McCarroll bass: Mark Wade from the BMI Musical Theatre Workshop Fall Showcase, October 24, 2024 NADJA: I have watched you play your games among the peasants With your dungeon and your dragon and your dice I know better ways to spend your adolescence Walk with me and listen to advice, from a Strong female protagonist A woman who controls the plot With my power and my beauty I consider it my duty To help a wretched one who’s not A strong female protagonist Can win a fight with any guy Be my protégé Avoid the light of day And probably you’ll never die! Oh, Jenna Such a tiny baby Shot out of your mother’s womb Oh, Jenna Grow a spine and maybe It will be your turn to bloom, into A strong female protagonist Make your enemies your slaves Treat them with disgust Grind them into dust Then do a shit on all their graves (spoken) You are not listening, Jenna! A strong female protagonist A girl who doesn’t need a boy He’s just a sack of meat To drain until complete Why marry when you can destroy? A strong female protagonist Many men you will beguile Relieve them of their sperms Then leave them to the worms Another corpse upon the pile! Oh Jenna, as depressing as the bottom of a beggar’s shoe But Jenna, once upon a time, you see, I was a lot like you… When I was young We were so poor Burning donkey dung to make our fire And when the dung Was no more We had to throw the donkey on the pyre I met one night A lady dressed So fine, I begged her for a little bread “Please, ma’am, one bite!” She…acquiesced And the Nadja of before was DEAD. It’s the least that I can do To pass this gift to you! A strong female protagonist Here’s the future I foresee: A new exciting Jenna with a very long career In terrorizing humans til they’re vomiting in fear How special you will be, Just like me!
