In 2015 , after 30 years at Eyewitness News my office roommate @sarahwallacereports moved out and in with the folks at our rival station Channel 4. She brought her unique investigative tenacity to their viewers for the next 11 years. Last week this fierce reporter announced her position was being “eliminated due to financial decisions and a changing media landscape “ . Sarah thanked her station and exited with such grace in the face of unexpected breaking news. It is a class act to be lauded BUT since you’re the G.O.A.T I know you won’t let Rocks in the road force you to drop the 🎤 for good. Not when people (I hope) still value the actual journalism you consistently delivered : Hard-hitting, rock-turning, speaking-truth-to-power accountability, giving voice-to-the-silenced kind of stories . It’s more important than ever before to get fully developed, well researched un-biased, unafraid story-telling, NOT the insipid bits masquerading as news ! I look forward to seeing where THE Sarah Wallace winds up next - (I’ll leave the earrings in your new cup Sarah ! )

She blessed us with decades of her presence on the airwaves and now on to more blessings for what comes next. We love you Kaity Tong! It was an honor to be your colleague and even more of a blessing to call you friend. And as you can see from the turnout at your retirement celebration, I’m not the only one who holds you in the highest esteem. Now, go get your blessing! ❤️

As she leaves WNBC, it’s tough to sum up all the adventures I’ve had with @sarahwallace4ny the past 10 years. We’ve done hundreds of stories together, traveled to Colorado for ‘The Price of Pot’, Missouri searching for pedophile priests, Los Angeles for wildfires, Turks and Caicos twice for a murder mystery, Florida for a bodyless head, Atlanta for Trump getting his mug shot taken, D.C. for inauguration, and more then a few times to prison. We did some of the best work of my career and together won 5 Emmy’s (so far) and had a tremendous amount of fun every day. I know you still have a lot of great stories to tell. #nbc4ny #behindthescenes #tv news #reel

Luigi Mangione, the accused killer of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, pleaded guilty Friday to federal stalking charges, potentially capping a saga that captivated the public and ignited fiery national debate over the insurance industry.

Thompson’s family was in court for the guilty plea. It was the first time any of the CEO’s relatives were in the same room with the man accused of gunning down their loved one. Thompson’s mother glared at him.

Before accepting the plea, Mangione admitted to killing Thompson, saying, “On the morning of Dec 4, 2024, I shot Mr. Thompson in Manhattan in his back. I understood my actions would place him in fear of death and bodily injury. I knew what I was doing was illegal.”

A lawsuit accusing the Perth Amboy Police Department of using excessive force is suddenly settled right before it was set to go to trial, but the debate continues over tactics and training.

Police bodycam videos were key to this case — videos that now won’t be shown in court. A source shared multiple videos with the News 4 I-Team.
