Thank you wrestling ❤️‍🔥

Little did 7th grade Ruby know where arm wrestling at lunch would get her. Wrestling has given me opportunities I would’ve never dreamed of, friends from every corner of the country and beyond, and passion that extended beyond the mat.

It also taught me to work for what I wanted and to follow my passions. That being said- somewhere between helping Noelle cut weight at world team trials after my last match and my drive back up to Marquette I realized that wrestling has been about so much more than competing for me. It was about the impact I could have and connections I had made.

I made the incredibly difficult decision to forgo my last year of eligibility in pursuit of my Masters of Social Work to become a counselor and therapist for future student athletes and hopefully continue the fight against suicide and stigma around mental health in the world of athletics. I am so blessed to announce that I will be completing my masters of social work at the University of Michigan. (Go blue💙)

I am so excited to see what is to come and none of this would be possible without the path behind me- good, bad, and everything in between. Thank you wrestling and all the wonderful people that came with it 💚💛🤍

Not the season I planned, but the one I needed

I came into this season with a mission to come back from my 1st ACL tear and prove to myself that I can wrestle again. However, God had a different plan for me. Facing the idea of a 2nd ACL surgery and the recovery that would follow was one of the most gut wrenching moments this season. There have been moments of frustration, doubt, and isolation that I’m not proud of.

But this season also proved to me that wrestling is so much more than what happens on the mat. It’s the community you build, the growth you seek, and the importance of showing up no matter how hard it is. This team picked me up in more ways than I can put into words. The support, love, and encouragement you girls (and coaches) gave me when I needed it the most made each day a little bit better. Thank you. Most importantly, thank you to my family & friends. Especially my mom and dad for all the love and support you give no matter how far away I am. I’m grateful for all of ya’ll.

Like I said, not the season I planned or wanted but the one I needed. The memories I have made, the growth I experienced, and the joy I had watching my team compete was the biggest takeaway from this season.

These little moments in between meant everything 🤠🫰🏼
