I’m so honored to be part of a special night hosted by my dear friend and collaborator @bamitskam — happening Sunday, July 20th at Dan Electros!

This show is stacked with some of Houston’s most inspiring artists and friends: @amazingtortillas, @rootsvibah, @reallyuncletino, @eddiep222 and me, @saravanbuskirk 🧡

Kam’s band (which I’m proud to be part of!) will be backing each artist — learning and performing a few of each of their songs, including a few off my upcoming self-titled album 🥰

A full set supporting @bamitskam herself will close out our evening. Kam continues to inspire me with her vision, generosity, and power as an artist and community-builder.

Incredible food provided by @knives_in_water 🌮 🍗

🎟️ $10 in advance / $15 at the door

Secret Sessions at The Carver: Gratitude - "Fin"
This collaboration was never about content. It was about witnessing something real. From dressing-room rehearsals to post-show reactions, we were there for the moments no one else saw.

Thank you to @thecarversa and the entire team for inviting us into your world. We felt the legacy, the love, and the future all in one night.

I cold called Margaret Lejeune on a whim to record for the new album and she said yes.
😮🤭☺️

I had a hair-brained scheme of composing, recording, mixing, mastering and releasing a single in the course of 2 days. 😅😂

It ended up taking 2 weeks but that is how “Light Me Up” came to be. 🔥⬆️

Margaret brought along her accompanying violinist, 🎻 Debra Brown. Andrew Karnavas brought the gear and the engineer know how 🧠and magic was made. 🧌🪄

We have since recorded 10 full-length tracks together and had several memorable performances. It is such an honor to continue to be in the presence of these angels and be inspired without limits in my artistic expression because @cellopuncher and @pumpkinpants23 have been open to creating with me.

Both of these women have the unique ability of making my dreams come true and capture the essence of emotion that I am seeking to communicate with my music.

The massive task of undoing trainings and thought processes that no longer serve me has naturally been part of choosing to be an artist full time. I catch myself daily retraining my thoughts and narratives that aren’t actually from me. The process of defining myself for myself has been a decade long so far. I know it will be a forever practice as I keep choosing to create. I really do love becoming more me and whole every day. The honor and privilege to work with artists like @pumpkinpants23 and @cellopuncher is evidence of the most beautiful parts about becoming fully me. The reflection is making a whole lot of sense — inspiring, rich, curious, dark, light, full spectrum human, and dreamy. 🥹✨ Thank you to these two doesn’t even begin to cover it.

It is one of my deepest hopes that you will never have to cut through any bullshit to get to me. Of course I am not perfect at it, but I strive to be authentically me, for me, and for you. Whether it’s goofy, intense, sad, wise, immature - no matter how I show up - I know that love can only exist where I am in fact wholly, un-split, one me.

This is a skill for a queer person raised in evangelical church where the patriarchy is the only language taught. It has taken intention, attention, and focus to hone this skill. It is a daily practice still. Even more specifically, intention is required with who I surround myself with. Geoffrey Muller, @cajunbanjo is one of those people that made practicing this easy. He has been a safe space for creative exploration, being queer, saying what I mean, and being authentically me. Taking a risk can be an easy yes when you are in such good company. 😈🕺🏽

I love the endless growth within my art. Playing with @bamitskam over the years has given me ample room to explore and improve my skill, performance and musical talents.

I have been playing guitar for 30 years now, but as Kam says in this video, “it’s never to late to learn something.” One of my skill goals this year is to improve fretboard literacy and speed and it’s fun to look back and see how far I have come.

Here’s to more growth, more collaboration, and more art in 2025 🎉🥂

Love yall!

Special love to @sarahbaer for making sure we made it where we needed to be and had everything we needed. It is facilitators like you who make the world go around.

I want to take a moment to recognize one of the most incredible humans I’ve had the privilege of knowing, Kam Franklin.

Kam is breaking records, kicking open doors, and creating gut punching music that will forever change the heart and soul of all those who listen. Her vision is larger than life and it is inspiring to watch her execute her dreams with relentless passion and heart, advocating for others along the way. She is a true activist.

Everyone that knows her knows, Kam Franklin is a wonderous force and to say I am grateful for her would be an understatement. I feel very fucking blessed, ok? 🧡

Catch us on March 16, 2024 for the official SXSW showcase presented by @minttalentgroup @parishatx @bamitskam
