@empire.shp state of mind 🌃

I started working at Vivint 14 years ago and part of what made me fall in love with this company was how it treated its sales force like rockstars. As a rookie rep, I remember watching the regional managers take trips to NYC and thinking how badly I wanted to be there someday.

That was always the magic of this place. It surrounded you with people doing big things and made you believe you could too. That belief pushed me to dream bigger, become more and surround myself with people who wanted the same. A lot of people have come and gone since then. A lot has changed since I started working here. And plenty have wondered if that magic is still here…

14 years later, I got to go to NYC as a regional manager, surrounded by some of the best people I know, celebrating a record-breaking year for the company, the division and my region. Full circle moment made me realize: The magic never left. And neither did we. #StillHere #BuildYourEmpire

If you’re tagged in this post, you’ve influenced me somewhere in my life. Thank you. Now some shit you can read if you want.

I started knocking doors half way through college.

@aarondoria agreed to give me an in n out gift card for $100 (I had -$300 in my Chase account) if I’d try 1 week in Hollister CA knocking doors, selling alarm systems.

The rest is history.

Never thought knocking doors would be a journey I’d enjoy, but at this point of my career, it teaches me something every day I’d never learn elsewhere.

First 10 days without a sale.

Losing my grandpa while I was out for my first summer & never got to say goodbye.

Thunder storms, tornado warnings, & mosquitoes cooking me everyday.

Tens of thousands of nos.

Being overlooked, forgotten about, & feeling out of place.

Knocking during Covid.

Knocking after breaking my finger & making a home made brace.

Knocking on a torn meniscus, 3 months of waddling around shoutout Aflac.

118 degree days in Lancaster, CA.

Knocking during a break up with someone I loved dearly after 2 years.

Bought a house.

Bought a G wagon.

Six figure investment portfolio.

Stupid ass trips with stupid ass golf with stupid ass memories.

But nothing is worth as much as what I’ve learned about myself, all from knocking doors.

Making Dream Team back to back years was something I never thought possible, until it happened.

The horrors persist, but so do I.

Here’s to being present.
