I am so thrilled to announce the publication of Fashion Projects: 15 Years of Fashion in Dialogue—out now from Intellect Books! @intellectbooks

Save the date for an event on May 1st at 6:00pm at Parsons School of Design

Very much a labor of love, the book anthologizes the small fashion journal Fashion Projects, which I founded in 2005 as a zine. It gradually morphed into a larger journal straddling the academic and general interest worlds. Fashion Projects served as a platform to highlight the importance of fashion within current critical discourses through long-form interviews with a range of curators, critics, artists, and designers.

The book is an index of a particular time within the fashion studies landscape and the attendant fields of fashion writing, fashion curation, and critical fashion practice during the years in which the field witnessed a meteoric rise.

Through interviews with designers, scholars, curators, and writers, the book details he burgeoning discourse surrounding the centrality of fashion as a cultural phenomenon in the first two decades of the twenty-first century.

It could never have happened without a swell of support from its contributors, including Alex Nora Esculapio, Mae Colburn, Ingrid E. Mida, Lisa Santandrea, Sarah Scaturro, Marco Pecorari, Alexis Romano, Tzuni Lopez Montgomery, Michelle Labrague, Jay Ruttenberg, Lucy Collins, Patty Chang, Cynthia Leung, Sonya, Mooney, Tamsen Young, as well as the designers Jennifer Noguchi, Shannon Curren, Sarah Smith and Emma T. Conway and, of course, all the people who agreed to be interviewed.

A big thanks also to the Intellect team that made the book happen: Tim Mitchell, James Campbell and many others. #fashionprojectsjournal #fashioncuration #fashioncriticism #criticalfashionpractice
