Happy birthday to us. On this day 17 years ago we filmed for the first time. The short was called “boxer”. It was never finished, having been way too ambitious for first time filmmakers. I lied to the @saskfilmpool and to @bernyhi that I “totally knew how to use a camera”. I had no idea. I didn’t even know how to put the battery in and I certainly didn’t know how to focus it. All I had was knowledge pulled together from dvd commentaries and some friends that wanted to make something absurd. That’s still true today.

Thank you to everyone who made the Filmpool Cooperative reopening possible. What a joy to reconnect with this community and return to a world of shared ideas, experimentation, and creativity around something we are all passionate about: cinema. 🎬#esperanzasanchezespitia #womeninfilmaking #saskatchewan #film

Historias de verano🎞️📷🌇

Last night, Regina came alive in light, cinema, and art. ✨🎬

Nuit Blanche was a beautiful celebration of creativity, connection, and togetherness a night where the city became a canvas and people came together to share, discover, and simply enjoy being part of something special.

Thank you, @nuitblancheregina for a magical night. 🤍✨

Artist Introduction & Workshop Announcement: Dani Fink & Rebekah Illingworth will host “Project The Unknown,” a drop-in workshop in Hill Centre Tower 2 during Nuit Blanche Regina. Materials are provided.
-
Dani Fink (@dani_fink12) and Rebekah Illingworth (@rebekahillll ) are experimental filmmakers working with 16mm film and analogue processes. Their practices explore memory, perception, and the subconscious through non-linear structures, repetition, and tactile visual experimentation. Dani’s work leans into the textures of the uncanny and intimate, using techniques like double exposure and close-up imagery to evoke emotional landscapes beyond narrative. Rebekah brings a focus on feminist and environmental themes, grounding the work in material and political contexts. Together, their approach blends instinctive editing with hands-on filmmaking, creating pieces that exist between dream and reality while engaging with both inner and external worlds.

📍Quick trip to Sedley, Saskatchewan and I couldn’t resist stopping for a picture of their “sleeping giant.” 🌾🚂
Nothing says small town Saskatchewan quite like grain elevators, endless tracks, and a sky that looks one thunder clap away from a movie scene.🎬🌅🫶🏼

Who’s excited for workshops? 🎥📸

MARCH 27 | 10:30 AM | ED 175

Join Joel Tabak, the Technical Director of the Saskatchewan Filmpool, in a demonstration and workshop of one of the most exciting cameras in the Filmpool’s Inventory, The ARRI ALEXA Mini. ARRI Cameras are considered industry standard in many circles, and the ARRI ALEXA Mini has been used on such films as Everything, Everywhere All at Once, 1917, and John Wick: Chapter 4, among many others. The workshop will go through the specs and demonstration of the camera, followed by hands-on participation.

Thank you so much @saskfilmpool for hosting!

Pleased to be taking part in this stacked film program, co-curated by Tristin Greyeyes and @k.bad.e in time for International Women’s Day. ‘Blindfold’ repurposes footage of a performance film from an earlier time in my life, set to a song from Natural Sympathies’ 2022 home-recorded album, ‘At the Limits of Earth’…
