The first run of THE CAGE… what a blessed time.

THE CAGE was first performed at Theatre Arts in early July 2026. Such a phenomenal experience!

There are many people responsible for supporting the production and making it what it was. To name a few:

Thank you to @bandile_sikah as performer and writer, and @saskiabormans and @_igirubuntu for their amazing work becoming the characters on stage.
@hannah_soal , my sister, for being a makeshift stage manager, assistant and overall help.
Waterfront Theatre School @waterfronttheatreschool for their kindness and support of the piece with promotion and set, as well as @tfcw_ct for their costume assistance and time.
To @casey_sewbaran and @cassybagoes for their help with an innumerable amount of things from posters to script writing, the list goes endlessly on.
A special thank you to @_thezstudios . The support your team showed us by bringing the whole team to watch the show. And then having us on your amazing podcast was the most meaningful support of the production and the arts as a whole.
Then a thanks to @chris_soal and @nix_soal for everything, the rehearsal venue, the social media promotion, etc.
We are so grateful for everyone who came to opening.
To the @theatrearts.obs team: the show would have not been what it was without @mandilakhe_z , @the_lsddt and @lutho_booizen as well as the admin team and Caroline. We could not have imagined our first staging of this piece to have been anywhere else.
The phenomenal photography was the work of none other than the amazing @makography_studio and @official.tinashemk .
To the Chris Soal studio team, who aided so much, thank you. A special mention to @jonathan_jyb for his assistance with the set building.
There are many who cannot be named who promoted the piece and came to watch it. Thank you to each and every person.
Lastly but very importantly, a thank you to Marina for her kindness and advice to make the piece what it was.

We have another run at Kaapstad Toneelhuis @kaapstad_toneelhuis in November 2026. We hope we will again receive an abundance of support and are grateful for all the support thus far.

🦇 IMPROGUISE PRESENTS: BAT 🦇
Improvised Play in the Dark
What happens when you take away the one thing theatre usually depends on: sight?
We're about to find out.
On 26 September, Cape Town's premier, award-winning improv troupe brings something completely different to The Galloway: an entirely improvised play, performed in complete darkness.
No sets. No costumes. No facial expressions. Just voice, sound, atmosphere and imagination, live and unplanned.
Inspired by classic radio drama, BAT invites you to build the pictures yourself. A creaking door becomes a location. Footsteps become a character. A voice in the dark can take you anywhere.
Every character, every scene, every twist: made up on the spot.
Close your eyes. Open your imagination.
