More than a book, THIS is a beautiful work of art! The colors, the feel of the paper, the printing, the treasure chest of notes explored and histories revealed - all a treasure to hold. What an honor that Saskia selected AMANITA to reference in her magical mushroom chapter. 🍄

Moments from a week of immersive olfactory study in the Loire Valley, where days were spent smelling, tasting, making, and unmaking, and evenings stretched into conversations around dinner tables I was rarely in a rush to leave.

Many thanks to @artandolfaction, @saskiacwb, and @spyrosdrosopoulos for the opportunity to question, experiment, learn, and create in such good company. And to Jeroen, Leonoor, and Mark at @legrippault, whose generosity extended well beyond the extraordinary meals, herb gardens, and impressive vinyl collection.

It’s been a week since opening night for From Memory to A Sign من ذكرى إلى علامة
This was several years in the making, and I couldn’t be more grateful. Thank you to everyone who came out! What a joy to see all of you!

Here I am, photographed by @saskiacwb , beside my maternal grandparents, who have had immense influence on my life, my career, and this exhibit. I am also wearing my Lebanese Teta’s scarf around my waist. Her love and intelligence, curiosity and advocacy, have always stayed with me.

Go experience this audio installation where you can hear my grandfather talk about his incredible life as a broadcaster and more. Their wedding night inspired my perfume, Nar, which you can also smell and listen to Abdel Halim too 🔥❤️
I named this piece “Lissa Fakir” meaning “Do you Still Remember?”
Because we used to listen to Om Kolthoum together ✨

@danedalbalcon appreciating another special piece, “Tislam E’idek” Bless Your Hands
Included: handmade ceramic beads, scented with Mystica. My paternal great grandmother is pictured, next to this piece, with her half sister.

This was the trickiest part to put up! Shim El Yasmeen, Thani, in honour of my first installation as part of @sundusabdulhadi ‘s “ Take Care of Yourself” 2016
As an extension to that piece, I used the same silk hand sewn leaves from that piece, and created these ceramic jasmines by hand. Glazed and scented with Jaz

I love it when fellow perfumers and scent lovers appreciate the work as much as I do 🫶🏽

Hello all, 👋✨ it’s been over two months that we backed from San Francisco. We still feeling it was just yesterday. ♥️✨ Here are some of highlights from the event, (and one of my favorite places in SF.)

THE CULTURES OF PERFUME: SCENTS THAT SHAPED HISTORY arrives in the world with a pub date of November 2026. It is, as the title suggests, about scent and we at the IAO have been lucky to watch Saskia toil away at this labor of love, intellect, and olfaction. We would also love for you to be able to read this, and humbly suggest place the book on pre-order — directly from the publisher ARTBOOK.COM or your independent bookstore of choice.

We’ve just about caught our breath after a hectic month and have been looking back on an incredible week in Athens with our friends, our community, and our industry.
