Second stop of Saturday night was speeding over to the Dark Room to catch @lyfestile7 LyfeStile and @sw.beats73 Kenautis Smith's celebration of their dope new album "Do you Mind if I bring a few Friends"... An album with lyrical wisdom and deep philosophy, head nodding beats, and collabs with some of StL's best Emcee's. They brought along my man DJ @soopaman23_ Speed who chopped it up on the fly all night (who needs headphones anyway?) The dude has gotten so good that I won't be surprised if he gets snapped up by some national act like Charlie Chan did.

Anyway, what a glorious celebration of the hiphop community in St. Louis. LyfeStile was on fire, and I wish I'd captured him freestyling over the beats. So good. And Track Vandals/Teamwood Films were standouts... Their Varcity Life movie premier has sold out, and they just showed what a classic crew of Emcee's can do.

I am gonna miss names in the tags, and my apologies (please add anyone I missed or tagged wrong), but the folks I know to tag that I caught are @jia_davis314 , @saucegame Santone, @tashabsings , @trackvandals , @teamwoodfilms , @gillyoshin , @therealsugeavery , @supremesol , @addverbsuperb , @menacemusic314 , and @freshmanlc314 .

Shout out and a huuuuuuge 🫡 to @lyfestile7 and @sw.records for throwing one helluva album release party for their release “Is It OK If I Bring A Few Friends?” (Go directly to Bandcamp and show a lil support for a definite album of the year contender) up at the Dark Room.

Ill performance after ill performances by STL legends and up-and-coming all night with the one and only Supaman DJ Speed (forgive me on the @, I can’t think at the moment) ROCKING the sounds.

Big ups to everyone who performed, I “think” the only one I didn’t get a pic of was Rec Riddles who killed it with Supreme Sol. 🫡 Suge Avery, Rec Riddles, Supreme Sol, Track Vandals, Tasha B, Aadverb Superb, Santone, Jia Davis, T-Menace and the two who are slipping mind at the moment. They ALL killed it.

The night belonged to lyfestile though, one of the best live mcs going. Salute.

PS - please note my unparalleled streak of bad pics of live hip hop events remains unbroken. 🤣 BUT, to be fare, watching live was more important.

Amazing night for hip hop in STL.

Change starts with YOU! 🔥

I got to experience the You Make a Difference workshop, and it was a powerful reminder of the potential we hold as human beings—and what’s possible when we connect with purpose. 🌍

We’re on the brink of a new reality, and each of us has a role in shaping it. Ian Hill brings passion, experience, and heart to his work as a mentor and speaker. His message challenges you to recognize your impact and put it into action! 💡

Shout out to Mandy Blanks for connecting me with this experience! 🙌

Check out the program and workshop at youmakethedifference.com.

Don’t wait for change. Be the person who starts it! 💪

Lyfestile, the St. Louis emcee also known as Scott Woods, is throwing a release party Saturday at The Dark Room in Grand Center.

The night celebrates “Is It OK If I Bring a Few Friends?,” his album with producer Kenautis Smith. It came out June 12 on SomethingWonderful Records. Smith produced every song, and Lyfestile brought in a different guest on nine of the 10 tracks.

Many of those guests are on Saturday’s bill: Tasha B, Track Vandals, Supreme Sol, Jia Davis & Santone, Suge Avery, Addverb Superb & T Menace, Freshman and Reaceyung. DJ Speed Da Soopaman is on the decks.

The party runs 10 p.m. to midnight on Saturday, Oct. 17, at 3610 Grandel Square. Cover is $10. The album is streaming now on Bandcamp, Spotify and Deezer.

Im biased obviously but to me there is no media/entertainment more powerful than music

It brings so many different kinds of people from all different walks of life together, I might not have met most of my favorite people if it wasnt for music

Anyways, pull up tomorrow night and meet some new people, listen to some new music, have some new experiences and let yourself be a part of something NEW 🗡

We in this together 💪
