life moves fast and this past week was a bit of a more meaningful one for me as a human, not an artist, so as it happens i did not feel in a place to be posting about my new song AIRPORT which is out now! i struggle with the immediacy of this digital world we’ve built around our real one anyway and hate that still it feels “wrong” or like a bit of a failure to be silent about a release and post about it a week later. also as i’m typing this i’m seeing the self-centered-ness of this statement too, which i guess is part of the job description as a so-called artist!
anyways, before i drift off further, my new song AIRPORT is out now. it’s a song i wrote in miami this march in a state of complete overstimulation and confusion after experiencing a few days of miami music week (which for those who aren’t familiar is a connecting event in miami every year where you meet about a million people a second and everyone is a hyperbole of themselves and on top of that there are all kinds of events at every time of day imaginable).
in an attempt to be raw and honest on this platform and in general i thought i’d share that i also found a note i wrote during that same time on a walk and rare moment of silence where i was finally alone with myself and all those contradictory feelings suddenly came crashing down on me - being surrounded by so many people but feeling so alone, surrounded by so much love or i guess at least admiration/kindness and not being able to really receive any of it, feeling so “professional” and business in those environments but at the same time really directionless and misaligned with what i was projecting to the outside world.
i guess my way of processing all of it was writing a cool, sassy ‘poem’ about being sooooo unattached (which turned into AIRPORT) - because maybe that’s all i would have wanted to be in those moments and leaning into this character was a fun distraction from what was actually going on inside of me.
