High school has been an odd experience for me. I think everyone feels weird their first two years as they’re trying to figure out things. Then for some reason, everything randomly clicks. For me, everything clicked when I realized just how far having a strong passion for something will take you. It’s funny, because I didn’t even realize how passionate I had become for broadcast journalism until I read what people said in my yearbook. A lot of comments about how passionate I am for journalism and to keep at it. There’s so many things in life that you don’t realize until somebody recognizes it in you, which is why the most valuable part of my high school experience has 100% been the support group that I slowly put together throughout my whole high school experience. That said…

To my friends: Whether I’ve know you for 8 years, or we’ve gotten closer over the past few months, I’m incredibly grateful for every single one of you. You’ve all singlehandedly shaped my high school experience into something I’ll never forget and have made me be able to take a step back and help me see all the things I was able to accomplish in my high school career. Thank you.

To my family: You all already know how much I love you, but I’ll say it again anyway. Your support has not only helped me through so many things, but you’ve never let me settle for anything less than my best. I always know I have people to lean onto. I’ll always be incredibly grateful for that.

To b11elars: I know he’ll never see this because the guy doesn't have Instagram… but when I tell you he’s been one of the most important constants of my life throughout high school, it’s true. It’s one thing to believe in yourself, it’s another for someone else to believe in you. Ever since I decided I was going to go into journalism, he’s always believed in my future aspirations and has done many things to help make that a reality. His mentality of if you want to get something done, it WILL get done, no matter what, has been a philosophy I’ve tried to adopt and apply throughout different facets of my life, especially in journalism. Thank you.
