Madrid runs on its own clock. Lunch at 2pm, dinner at 10pm and the night doesn’t really start until after midnight. The city has perfected the art of living well without rushing — and its food and bar scene is built around exactly that philosophy.

From a Michelin-starred chef who turned offal into haute cuisine to a former brothel that became one of the city’s best cocktail bars, a 17th-century wine cellar with secret passageways, and a speakeasy that requires a password from Instagram — the list in the carousel is a start.

64 spots in the full guide — restaurants, bars, coffee shops and everything else worth your time in Madrid.

At @savasbarmad mixology is all about simplicity done well. At the helm of the venture is a Lithuanian couple with extensive experience in the hospitality industry, who have created a space where a relaxed atmosphere and excellent service are integral to the experience.

Their drink menu is based on the great classics, reinterpreted with character and subtle creative twists that surprise without losing their essence. An honest, straightforward and unpretentious menu, where the quality of the ingredients and the balance of each mix speak for themselves.

had a wonderful opportunity to illustrate some crazy psychedelic characters for the lovely people at @savasbarmad also thanks to the amazing @gorostizaphotography (congrats on being nominated for the World Food Photography Awards BTW) for letting me place my work on his mesmerising photos of these scrumptious cocktails! MORE TO COME!
