The Murals and Mosaics of Spanish Harlem: The spirit of El Barrio lives through its muralists… local artists who transform neighborhood walls into canvases, telling the community’s history with poetry, pain, and passion, and leaving a piece of their soul in every painted story. Thank you @guidesofnyc and Leigh Hallingbay @harlemwalksnyc for a memorable walking tour. #livewhoyouare #iloveart #iloveharlem #iloveny

Let’s break down what we mean when we say our tournament is “By Youth, For Youth” ➡️ It’s more than just a phrase, it’s intentionality. At every level of Stop the Killing behind it is a young person. This is how you invest in youth! This is what youth leadership looks like! 💙 #StoptheKilling #OusWay #Harlem

I filmed this last week and wanted to make it way more polished and jazz it up with photos, graphics, and receipts 🤓🧾 …but between Housing Court anxiety, community meetings, Knicks in 5, and actual life, don’t nobody got time for that! So here’s me and some thoughts on housing, displacement, and what it means to fight for for home while watching others turn your neighborhood into a campaign talking point. Let’s not spend more time mourning lost bagel shops and empty storefronts than the people fighting to stay in their homes on the very same blocks. Silence about gentrification one day, leads to a dent in your weekend routine the next. Want to support my eviction defense fund? Our MOCDC Meet & Greet was a huge success! We had around 100 people in attendance, bringing together a strong mix of community voices and organizations. MOCDC members showed up in full force, alongside members of Masjid Malcolm Shabazz, MIB, Tioga Democratic Club, residents from our community housing, and many more. It was a powerful opportunity to hear directly from leaders including Adriano Espaillat, Mark Levine, and Judge Aija Tingling, and to engage in meaningful conversations about the issues impacting our community. If you weren’t able to attend, no worries — we’re just getting started. Join us for our next Meet & Greet on Sunday, May 3rd at 4 PM, featuring: Tom DiNapoli @tomdinapoli.ny Jordan Wright @jordanwright4harlem Brad Hoylman-Sigal @bradhoylman Follow our social media to stay up to date, or sign up on our website for more information: https://www.mocdcharlem.com/contact-6 Let’s keep building together. @mmshabazz @mib_village
