Last weekend’s edition of the Battle of Wigs, was as usual, a premium intellectual showdown that saw some of the best minds in the Nigerian Law School go head to head in what was a keenly contested brawl. @abigail.oyelaran came out top for the second time this session, becoming only the second Paddi to achieve that feat. The Battle of Wigs returns tomorrow at 6pm and all Nigerian Law School students are encouraged to participate. To take part in the Battle of Wigs, visit the App Store or Playstore to download the LawSchool Paddi app. The test goes live on the app at 6pm every Saturday. Goodluck. Ever been in a room where history felt like it was unfolding right before your eyes? That was exactly the atmosphere at the JNAC Dinner & Awards Night, with over 500 brilliant minds in attendance. The former Chief Judge of Akwa Ibom State (rtd), Hon. Justice Godwin Abraham, delivered a thought-provoking lecture. A sitting High Court Judge, Hon. Justice Bassey Ekanem, chaired the occasion. Our respected staff advisors and brilliant lecturer, Dr Eyakndue Ntekim, was present. And our patron, Hon. (Barr) Prince Ukpong Akpabio, a distinguished member of the House of Representatives, a stellar lawyer, and an astute politician, graced the event. The hall was alive with energy, excellence, and inspiration. I had the honor of serving as Vice Chairman of the Planning Committee and Head of the Anchorage Team for the dinner. This was an experience that tested my capacity, stretched my skills, and made the success of that night even more fulfilling. Out of five award categories, I was humbled to receive the Leadership Icon of the Year Award, alongside a Special Award for Exceptional Service. This is the second year in a row I’ve been recognized as Leadership Icon. Looking back, these awards aren’t just plaques on a shelf. They represent a journey. My five years of active service in JNAC gave me invaluable experience, sharpened my leadership, and deepened my passion for personal and professional development as well as capacity building. These lessons, big and small, now stand as stepping stones for what lies ahead. Here’s the truth: moments like this don’t just happen. They’re the outcome of daily choices, consistent work, and intentional growth. The awards are proof that growth is possible for anyone willing to learn, serve, and stay consistent. And that’s why today is special. Because right now, we are beginning something powerful — The Great Lock-In. This is Day 1 of Week 1. For the next 15 weeks, we’re locking in on our goals, breaking limits, and choosing discipline over distraction.
