Targeting in dog training helps create clear communication between you and your dog. By teaching a dog to touch or follow a specific object—like your hand, a target stick, or a mat—you give them an easy, consistent cue to understand what you want. Targeting helps guide dogs into positions, improves focus, reduces confusion, and builds confidence.

For service dogs, targeting is especially valuable because it teaches precise, reliable movements needed for task work. Dogs learn to press buttons, close doors, retrieve specific items, alert handlers, or line up in exact positions—all by following a target. This makes complex service dog tasks easier to teach and helps the dog perform them accurately and safely in real-world environments.

Alessandro Heights neighbors, your March issue is on the way! Get to know the amazing Nolasco family. Their story was incredibly touching, and we’re blessed to have such a heartwarming couple in the neighborhood. They are a glowing example of the amazing residents in Alessandro Heights. Thank you @saviphotographer for the wonderful photos of our families.

Check your mailboxes starting next week for your Stroll Alessandro Heights March Issue!
