SENIOR SPOTLIGHT: Saxton McKnight ✨🎭

How long have you been doing theater ? I have been doing theatre since I was in 6th grade.

What show was your first production? My first ever production was 21 ways to get detention in the 7th grade and my first ever HighSchool production was puffs!

Favorite role? My favorite role I ever played was Cat in the Hat in Seussical.

What’s a fun fact about you? I am planning on minoring in theater in college!

Your favorite memory in Drama? My favorite memory was when me and Elizabeth Cruz was on the set piece that was supposed to be a bed but really was just made up of plywood and sheets and we were so tired that we just snuggled up onto that during our brakes and ran on the stage when our cue was about to happen.

Your advice to underclass men? my advice for underclassmen that do theater is that through the ups and downs you will always have a family in the theater world and so never always stay in it because the good always outweighs the bad.

Future Plans? I’m planning on going to SDSU and I’m studying business administration real estate.

I will forever be grateful for the memories that I held in the theater program at Juan Diego.

To say this has been a life changing experience is an understatement. I was recently Gertrude McFuzz in our school’s production of Seussical, which was my first ever lead. But just because this was my first lead is not what made this musical so wonderful, it was the very passionate cast that brought this show together. The amazing Liz Cruz played the sassy Mayzie la Bird, the hilarious Saxton McKnight played The Cat in the Hat, and my own sweet sister, Hadleigh Johnston played Mrs. Mayor. This on top of the rest of our wonderful cast who played a myriad of colorful roles brought this show together and made it a truly fun experience on and off stage. I want to thank the entire cast of Seussical and all of our audience who showed up for allowing the show to come to life and allow this amazing experience to happen. Thank you so much! ❤️
