What a core memory to be on the official @midautumnfest lineup for the very first time! 🥹🌕🐉

For those who don’t know our origin story, Kung Flow was actually born on the dance floor at the festival back in 2024, when two of its founders, @saxofshaolin and @supesbase, linked up with @leong.wav, who had performed earlier that day as Color of Rhythm. And the rest is history!

Two years later, we got to bring it full circle.

Huge thanks to everyone who came out, danced, and partied with us! And a special shoutout to @dretegs for capturing the magic and putting together this awesome 🎥!

🌕MID-AUTUMN FESTIVAL was my thanksgiving as a child living in Hong Kong. We’d have dinner around the giant round table with my parents, sister, grandparents, uncles, aunties and their friends. After moon cake and fruits (my grandpa was the designated fruit opener specialized in opening durians and cutting up star fruits vertically), we’d bring our lanterns, candles and tin cans to Victoria Park in Causeway Bay to meet up with our friends and play under the roundest moon of the year!

Since I moved to the US in 1999, the Mid-Autumn Fest ritual had been reduced to checking out the moon for a few seconds on my way home from the subway…until 4 years ago, when @fredhua @reetreel @supesbase and @saxofshaolin created @midautumnfest !!!

@latecambrian full band had been performing at the fest every year. This year, we are horses in the play “In The Beginning” by Rita and Fred, performing side by side @planetx.studios with the talented art family Landon, Cadence, Quynh, @hwei.music @mayudance157 and @andrewsunyan

I had such a blast at this 12-hour festival! Met interesting friends like @fromkanawithart @meticmusic @jianboforever @jennchanx and @ninetreasurescreamery 🥮🍄

We are starting our own tradition now.

The Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the most important holidays and celebrations in Chinese culture. The history of the festival dates back now over 3,000 years. Similar festivals are celebrated by other countries in East and Southeast Asia, including Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam, Malaysia and Singapore for example.

Born on the dance floor of @midautumnfest 2023, Kung Flow is a multidisciplinary supergroup blending DJ precision with live saxophone and percussion, delivering rhythm-heavy, soul-driven global dance music. @leong.wav, @saxofshaolin, and @SupesBase have taken distinct artistic paths—united by a shared pulse and purpose and rooted in the Asian-American creative spirit.

Together, they embody sympathetic vibration: a harmonic phenomenon in which frequencies align and move as one. When they perform, that resonance becomes tangible—three distinct voices flowing in sync, igniting dance floors with kinetic energy and emotional depth.

They have performed at @BrooklynMuseum, @VirginHotelsNYC, @HiddenTigerNYC, and @tectroit.

The night Kung Flow was born.

Headlined @brooklynmuseum First Saturdays back in May.
