Three years ago today…

Looking at this photo, I was bewildered for a moment: “has it been that long?” was my prevailing thought. To tell the truth it feels just like yesterday that Hope was merely a concept in my head, a fleeting fantasy that I would lock away just like many that have come to pass.

But this was different…

One of the things I learned with time is that what you regret most is the risks you never take, & this certainly was a big one. It wasn’t easy, far be from it, but a year onwards we had a film in our hands to call our own. Since then, Hope has travelled the world. The film was screened in 24 international festivals (& counting) covering 11 countries. We opened some & closed others, picking up a few awards on our way. But the headline here is not Hope itself, but rather the people that made it happen.

One of the things that I bothers me is referring to Hope as “my film!” Yes, while my name is on the marquee as Director & Writer, the film itself would not be possible had it not been for the people that helped bring my vision to life on the big screen. Whether it’s my friends who endured the tumultuous pre & post production process behind the scenes, the talents on camera, or our general audience who took the time to attend a screening; everyone has given their due & have contributed in a way to make this film what it is today. I promise you all, this is just the beginning!

For all involved, you have my everlasting thanks. I stand before you not the man I was three years ago & for that you have my gratitude. You gave me confidence, you gave me ambition, &, in more ways than one…

…you gave me Hope

It’s been a while since I gave any of yall an update on Hope, so here is the latest screening schedule for the month of February as part of our ongoing global festival tour:

February 6th: Twin Falls Film Festival in Idaho, USA ( @tffilmfestival2026 )

February 10th: Anatolia International Film Festival in Istanbul, Turkey

February 12th: Night Terrors Film Festival in Copenhagen, Denmark ( @nightterrorsfilmfestival )

February 19th: Romford Horror Festival in London, UK ( @romfordhorror )

February 27th: Oddities Film Fest in London, UK ( @odiites )

February 28: Samskara International Film Festival in Meerut, India

I know I’ve said this before but it bears repeating: I am honestly overwhelmed by the love, acceptance, & response that Hope has been receiving over the course of our festival journey these past few months. To have our film presented to audiences in all corners of the world is truly an honor, & the fact that for many this is the first production that they experience not just from Bahrain but our region of the World is a responsibility I am grateful for. On behalf of my team I thank each & every person who was supported Hope these past few months & I look forward to grander things in the near future!

Throughout our festival journey we’ve encountered many wonderful individuals, & I’m always excited to hear their feedback & response to our film. Given that most would have Hope be their first exposure to any production coming from Bahrain, it truly does my heart good to see & hear people engage with the film & share their appreciation.

Joe & Graham are two such individuals who have made this journey all the more sweet. They are the hosts of the wonderful @ffs_podcasts & have shared their thoughts & feedback after watching Hope at @phoenixvillefilmfestival their response towards the film have left me quite humbled & grinning from ear to ear.

Gentlemen, on behalf of the whole team thank you so much for your words & kindness. Hopefully the next time we have a film playing in Phoenixville our paths may cross still.
